The RIP thread

One thing they need to update is that Camilla becomes Queen 'Consort' which is quite sexist.
Playing devils advocate for a second. What should her title be instead?

Where I'm coming from, the husband of a female monarch doesn't get upgraded to the title of King, or King 'consort'. Usually stays as a Duke or a Prince. If we were being consistent to the conventions for the husband of a female monarch. Perhaps Camilla shouldn't be upgraded at all and simply remains a Duchess of some description.

That's right. Phillip was 'Prince' for 70 years with the Queen, why does the new King's wife get the Queen title?

They also recently changed the laws to make Princess Charlotte 3rd in line after Prince George instead of making it go to Prince Louis.

National anthem will now be changed to "God save the King".....same tune?

What would've happened if her uncle Edward VIII hadn't abdicated? We'd be Nazis? :))
It was God save the King when George VI was on the throne, so yes. Whole lot of things will change, currency for one.

I read Charles book a few years ago, very honest in describing all aspects of his life. His brother was severely traumatised (he'd walk with one arm twisted behind his neck) and was a regular on Melbourne's streets, he'd reach out to shake your hand and then when he had your hand he'd ask for a buck or 2!

Not a well known RIP but needed to get it off my chest somehow so please excuse.

My partner has a work colleague she’s known for some time. His wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer about 18 months ago. They are both young, with two young children.

She passed away last week.

It was terrible listening to the updates of her decline, what her and the family were going through, the conversations with the children etc. It all came to an end after an incredibly courageous effort. Funeral was today.

Sorry, just needed to mind dump. So sad.

Fair enough Red, totally understand.

Give comfort to all who are affected.

Don’t know how this slipped past me but too important to be left unsaid. Tim Page, war photographer of legendary status passed away last month in NSW. Was in the front line of combat, drugs, sex and rock n roll at the age of just 20 in Vietnam in the early 60's. True adventurer. Lived a life. Made Hunter S Thompson look straight.

Took many influential and iconic Vietnam war pics. Anti war pics he would say. Great mate of our legendary war photographer Neil Davis. And also of Sean Flynn - son of Errol - who was murdered by the Khmer Rouge.

YouTube him. Some nice articles to Google too. Legend.

Sorry to hear Redders.

A heinous situation and devastating outcome.

My thoughts to her family and friends, and your partner and self, very difficult situation and times indeed.

Well posted, no apologies required.
