sounds plausible to me, 3-4 hours drive to a town with an airport, light plane to the capital (Darwin or Perth I'm guessing), 3 or 4 hour flight to Melb, some waits in transit, doable

It takes me about 7 hours from farm gate to spencer st., and i live in Byron Bay. Its a big country and we havnt got teleport yet. Sounds like Waylon drove the Landcruiser flat stick and had some smooth connections.

from memory he is from somewhere 'near' broome, in that context 'near' could be anywhere up to an 8hour drive. he could probably be about a 15hr drive and broome still be his closest 'major' airport.
an 18hr trip aint that long.

He lives in the Kimberley, Broome's probably the 'biggest' town in the entire area. He said it takes him a 14 hr drive to get to the ocean. So that means he's about 14 hours by car from Broome itself.

So hows Waylon going with his footy? Hops was a big wrap for him a couple of years ago. What would he be, 20?

He's 20 now, Golly. I read an article where prior to the show he was working with Des Headland. He's definitely got the ability, but has problems with doing the hard stuff and self belief. He was bottom 3 on the show last night, but they elected to keep him largely because of what he can do on the field.

No one's actually said it yet, but I think the words X-Factor have been on their lips a few times when discussing Waylon. He himself admits that when he's playing at home he tries to do flashy stuff on the side of the ground that has the most girls. He's a pretty funny kid at times. I think he struggles with the stuff that he can't see as having a lot to do with playing footy, like lugging a 10KG concrete block from Etihad to the G or jumping out of a helicopter into the bay, rowing in a lifeboat 2k's back to shore then carrying someone in the boat a bit further up the beach. You can almost see him thinking 'how the *smile* is this going to help me play footy?'

pisser CTT. thanks for the little vignette.

I used to run the girl wing myself. :hihi

Hope marlin makes it I feel for the kid looks
Completely out of his comfort
Zone only he will determine whether he
Wants to be an afl player bad enough..
Talent is there.

The basketball convert Reece McKenzie did the agility run in 7.85 seconds, not far off Stephen Hill's draft camp record of 7.78.

186cm and did some things in the scratch match in ep 1 that made Voss go wow, including a one hand pick up in the wet, at pace. Did a 14.5 beep too, which is the AFL average.

Not sure what Reece did in the beep test, but I think it was Daniel Johncock who actually did the 14.5. He was the last one left in it.

not really related, but a great example of a athlete who picked a sport to convert too perfectly and landed him an Olympic selection.

Johncock did 14.6, McKenzie did 14.5.

Ahhh fair enough. Both Reece and the big bloke Bradie Foster are examples of people who've come from other sports who can maybe use those attributes in our game.

I don't like the concept that the captain can substitute potential delistees. As was mentioned it then becomes strategic rather than just looking for the best player.
