The Dusty 300th celebration thread

that's awesome. Thanks so much for posting it
2011 - with Dimma coaching from the bench, Duz and Chimp two class players building, we're getting done but going through rebuild of learning together is the exact stuff we're seeing now with Ooze on the bench and players building together.

I still maintain that if his last goal of the 2020 Grand Final had been at a time when the game was not over (any of the other three, particularly the third), it would be hailed as the greatest goal of all time. Those five Geelong players never stood a chance.

There are some gems in here. The one at 5:38 is one of my favourites.

All the memories of the highlight reel blend into one but which final was it that he made a point of marching up to Dangerflop and shoving him in the chest after Danger’s dive and goal. Dusty made it obvious what he thought of him. I always remember that.

I was thinking of this one too, as someone else said, 2019 PF. Geelong were very good that night, they ground away a lead to half time by picking our game apart. But the Dangerfield flop seemed to really p!!ss our players off and we wiped it out in half a quarter. Such a great game and Geelong did more than any coach could do to get our players breathing fire. Dusty's remonstrations with Dangerfield were priceless.

Yep, those 5 Geelong players suddenly realised that they were surrounded by Dustin Martin. His full highlights package will be one of the most beautiful things the game has ever produced.

I know the exact moment, and also find it odd that it’s never included in his highlight reels

I attended 3 finals in our flag years, one in each of them. The 17 Prelim oh what a glorious evening, the 19 Q v Bears 6 goal Duz clinic, and the 20 GF. Dustin dominated each game and was by far the pivotal player on the ground. Each match revolved around him. Lets celebrate The King next week with a thumping win.

Then he came out after half time and punched them out, did the same in the 2020 GF

dusty goal just before half time in that game.

30 seconds before it, I turn to my family and say, ashen faced 'I think we're *smile* here'

35 seconds later, I spit all over my family and dance with them and declare 'we're *smile* home'

I think there's a slim chance we win the flag in 2019 without dusty, but I dont think we win '17 or '20 without him.

dusty saved all of our lives.

The fear and panic and awe that Duz would instill or bring out of the opposition during the era was amazing he was like a Great White Shark or Apha Male Lion just doing as he pleased.

Ive been blessed over my life to witness the careers of some of the very greatest to ever play this game, and am grateful for that.

So many highlights of the Goat.
Settled for the Anticipation of Stanley handballing too Dangerfield. Dusty steals it and shrugs off Dangerfield to kick a goal.In the 20GF.
Enjoy

Doesn't get better than that, especially making Dangerfield look insipid.

After a win last night the focus moves to the great man's 300th next week.

Let's use the next 8 days to post about our best memories of one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Most of all let's get to the match next Saturday and flood the MCG in a sea of yellow and black.

A couple of memories to start the ball rolling

The qualifying final 2017 one on one with Tom Stewart when he left him in his wake, Dusty to Jack, Jack to Dion and goal. It was the moment I dared to dream.

The Prelim final 2017, that glorious day when we packed the MCG with 90,000 Tiger fans. First goal last quarter ...Dusty, Dusty...Dusty !!!!

Bring it on
I continually go back and watch this piece of play with full volume. Even though Basil wasn’t a favourite commentator, I love this call and the crowd erupting.

So many outstanding plays from the great man but the one that pleases me so much was his virtual pickpocketing Dangerfield in the 2020 GF and then kicked the goal to seal his third Norm Smith. He showed up the pretender for what he is

Totally agree Ezy. That's his big one. The last one in the 2020 GF was superb, but it was party time.

Just as an aside, don't forget the system Hardwick set up to allow Dusty to do his thing. Lambert, Edwards, MacIntosh, Prestia and Castagna for starters were doing the defensive running stuff that allowed him to be the maestro.
Don't want to rain on the parade in any way, but I reckon Jackmond was just as vital to winning us three flags. No Lynch no 2019 flag. No Rance no 2017 flag. etc.

Having said that, Dusty has the GOAT tiger highlight reel. And may well be the most loved Tiger in modern times along with Richo.

I’ve always loved the running torpedo pass that almost went the length of the MCG and ended with a Caddy goal in round 1 2017.
It felt like the kick that started his and our premiership run.

In the doco of the 2020 season, Dusty goals from 50 and they show Gale in the stands and he screams 'c'mon *smile* Dusty', brings a tear to the eye.
