Weideman looks like a one paced pony with no tricks. He might be better off trying to reinvent himself as a defender. What are peoples thoughts on looking at someone like Sam Weideman?
Is he someone we should target as a succession plan to Jack?

they are talking about a top 5 pick for 24yo who hasnt been able to get a game for the Dees, despite their talk forwards being a weakness? no thanks. What are peoples thoughts on looking at someone like Sam Weideman?

Not for me. Hopefully we can draft at least one KPF this year and have them develop in the magoos in 2022 and be ready to further develop at AFL level in 2023 and then step up the following year. We'll have Lynch and probably CJ there in the meantime. Balta and Martin could plug the gap as well. What are peoples thoughts on looking at someone like Sam Weideman?

Dont think you will have to give up a top 5 pick. Late first rounder at best.they are talking about a top 5 pick for 24yo who hasnt been able to get a game for the Dees, despite their talk forwards being a weakness? no thanks.
I think you've nailed it, Tim. Worth considering as an Astbury replacement, for no more than a second-rounder though.Weideman looks like a one paced pony with no tricks. He might be better off trying to reinvent himself as a defender.

If his body is ok and he's committed to a move to Melbourne, then we should consider it. We can't go into 2022 with just Balta as our only key tall defender. Having Talia (as with previously having Dave) allows the other defenders to play to their strengths.Talia reckons he has 4 more years in him! hehe.
He is as like for like for Dave Astbury as anyone. DTLD to replace DTLD?

I'm writing off Garthwaite as not up to it and by extension Miller, albeit he's never been tried.
Thank you - didn't know that. He did seem miffed in his media interview at having to move away from Adelaide to continue his career. Maybe he was well settled.Talia is originally from Melbourne, so I don't see that as a problem.
He'll be fresh then.re Talia, you do realise he hasn't played for 12 months ?, well 11 months to be exact
Given Dave's retirement, I'm not averse to taking him on for 2-3 years, until a junior is ready, subject to medical due diligence & clearance. That's 1 way to look at it I guess

he is only 30, not quite the right age demographic.Talia? He will end up at Geelong no doubt.
