The Adam Treloar situation and the AFLPA

Someone at Collingwood is telling porkies, saying their decision was only made after his wife moved north.

Yet Collingwood tried to shop Treloar around last year before his wife moved north.

??????????????????

Personally I sympathise with Guy. I find it an odd family decision for them to have her pursue a QLD netball contract when they have just had a child (and face all the heightened challenges of a newborn, especially in a covid 2020 and beyond) and he is on close to a million dollars. And given his mental health challenges and stressful position as a highly paid player in a large melb club. Why would they make a decision that on the surface only puts him under more pressure?

Was Kim offered a spot back at Collingwoods netball side?

Scumbags. They should be completely and utterly ashamed of themselves for the way this has happened. Regardless of what treloar has said or done in the past this is a disgusting way to treat an employee who did the right thing by them in renegotiating his contract to help them out when they were in need. They *smile* up badly and are making every excuse under the sun to make it his and his wife’s fault. IMO this will have flow on effects in years to come for them. Who is going to want to go to that *smile* stain of a club now? ( especially if your partner wants to, I don’t know, maybe work)

I question the choice they made. Even if he stayed at the Pies surely her moving to bris puts him under more stress?

Pretty easy to join the dots between the AT and JS situations. Monumentally badly handled. Speaks volumes for Collingwood culture and competence.

$600k is probably not unders but a good deal for someone with his dodgy hamstrings now and getting on in age. Not to mention his anxiety disorders and tricky family situation.
It was confirmed in his presser at the Dogs today that - 'It’s understood the Bulldogs will pay Treloar $600,000 a year until 2025, forcing Collingwood to pay a total of $1.5 million over that time just to see the back of him in a staggering chain of events that has angered Pies supporters."

Also by Treloar, 'asked if Buckley had told him senior players wanted him gone, Treloar said: “That was told to me in no uncertain way.

“That did hurt because I know how close I am with the players and to be told that when I don’t think that’s the truth and to be told that there’s some players who don’t want you there when I know the majority love me and care for me, that did hurt a bit.

“I just don’t think that was the truth. I don’t think that was the reality. “They were adamant about moving me on and no matter how they were going to go about it that was going to happen. It was a fight up until the end because I wanted to stay at Collingwood."

So it looks like Buckley was dishonest in his tweet denying this back at Sam Edmund, even if not exactly: ' “Absolute fact”...news to me Sam. '

You can catch the full article on SEN site and I'm sure elsewhere.

A caller to Dwayne's show on SEN also said that a large group of members was organising an alternative ticket to challenge the current Skunks board with a view to throwing Eddie and Bucks out on their respective ears. Lots of furious Pies up and about, not falling for the spin.

I think that's a fair question for their family and friends to ask but his personal life isn't really any of the club's business.

As long as he meets his obligations as an employee then it really isn't anything to do with Collingwood if he is married, single, divorced or if his wife lives on the moon.

From a welfare point of view they would be connected to him and offering support as they do with every player but in my eyes taking it to a judgement about his football capacity based on his family living arrangements is hugely overstepping the mark, especially when the player himself hasn't presented it as an issue.

His personal life is the clubs business when its such a big decision with potentially big implications on his performance. He is on $900,000 a year, his not working in a warehouse somewhere. And this isn't he and his wife moving to Geelong together.

Sure his decisions are his business (no matter how at odds with his personal wellbeing they seem) but the club can surely decide whether they are willing to accept the risks associated with that decision. When he got his back ended contract this arrangement was not part of the discussion.

Do you think if this was known at the beginning he would have had the same contract?

I love it when random strangers start commenting on other families decisions.

Also a bit weird to use her netball career as cover for Guy to ship Treloar out.

I've just had a very pleasant thought...... all the talk was that Treloar had signed with Richmond, before he entually signed with the Filth.
I really, really, really hope that the RFC have played a part in the rabble that the Pies are at the moment. Eddie doesn't like to lose so the Pies offered Treloar a kings ransom to sign with them, and it's come back to bight them on the arse.
Meanwhile 3 premierships later........ Richmond supporters are strutting around with the chest puffed out, while Collingwood fans are venting on the radio and social media.

Rumour was he asked the club to be in Brisbane 2 days a week. This request then started all of this.

No it’s not - we will have to 100% disagree on that - she has a right to go to the GC and unless the pies were paying her and she was part of the Treloar contract its none of their business. They have no right to mandate what his family does, they employ Treloar, not his wife or young baby.

The pies are disgusting - to blame an atrocious decision on his wife is low, low brow to the extreme. They have no morals, no integrity and it starts at the top - but we knew that didn’t we.

To blame their salary cap stuff ups on a wife of one of their players, I just can’t believe it.

As Mickey would say: "Boom ShakaLakka!"

So do we now open a new A/c with the Dogs?
Any wild predictions, Adam?

My view is that no matter what you think of Treloar the way he has been treated by Fat Boy and Figgie is well beyond disgusting.
The fact that the AFL just watches this happen is even worse.

Super weird.

Collingwood are quite abruptly, a basketcase.

They cant even spin stuff so it doesnt sound like complete nonsense.

His wife went to queensland so we sort of accidentally decided to pay Footscray to take Adam, 5km further away from his wife? WtF kind of spin IS that?

Pies are culturally in the crapper.

We all knew Eddie is a nasty racist narcissistic despot

And we all knew Bucks authenticity and love was the thinnest of veneers,

But did we expect this sudden, dramatic immolation of the institution?

bottom 4 is looking like a cakewalk

Check out Treloars brave face post on footscrays insta. He looks gaunt and about to cry.

I regret making fun of his situation. Poor fella

Blaming the wife's career for this cap/list mismanagement is a new low for Collingwood, and that's saying something.

He'll be OK at the Dogs, they seem like a decently run club at least.

Yeah its absolutely awful spin.

Treloars wife goes and plays in Queensland of which the season is held in the AFL off season (finals in early March) so will have zero impact on Treloars season, sure he will need to go through pre-season without her but I'm sure thats possible.

So Guys story is, we asked Adam if because she was moving (from November to March) if he was planning on going to play in QLD from March to September.

- OK big hole in timing there Neddy

From then, Treloar took him saying no, but because he was asked the question then that meant he wasn't wanted so went and found someone else that would take him. So Guy is saying this was driven by Treloar NOT the club. So why did they take such *smile* compensation and also pay some of his salary???? Makes zero sense.

Its pretty obvious to all, and its very disingenuous to their supporters to claim this wasn't related to the salary cap and to push it all back on Treloar wanting to leave.

The timing doesn't even make sense. The WNBL season ends in early March before the AFL season even starts.
