Tennis

That's got to be one of the better Aus Open finals ever.

Not bad for an old man. I guess all those preseasons have paid off.

I reckon Medvedev will end up looking back on this, and thinking he would have probably beaten literally every other tennis player on the circuit today, but Rafa was out of this world for the last 3 sets. It just wasn't his day.

Rafa's best match ever IMO and what a great feat for a 35 year old. At his age, I could barely stomach playing more than 2 games of 6 a side soccer back to back, let alone playing 5 and a half hours of outstanding tennis. What a star.

Who gets the most boos? Medvedev or Tiley?

I hope Tilley rather than Medvedev, hope they don't boo him, it will only add to his belief that he was hard done by from the fans which I don't think he was.

One day though, I suspect we will see Medvedev as a AO champion.

Medvedev's speech was good.

He also looks like Neil Patrick Harris.

Rafa's greatest ever win??

One of the greatest wins of all time by anyone imo.

He was playing a freak, who was playing flawlessly,

He was done, cooked. The entire world had him pensioned off. He served *smile* all night against an incredible returner,

I thought he had long covid for 2 sets. He was sweating like clive palmer in a sauna and missing regulation shots.

And he won????

The perfect tornament; our Tiger Ash wins; Novax at home rubbing ivormectin on his knob, while Rafa confines him to 3rd place in history

Superb

His speech was excellent, humility, humour etc. He needs to show more of that part of his personality rather than the whinging. With that personality he could be very likeable as well as being an excellent player, but he shows this other side of himself on court.

I suppose at least he was gracious enough to leave the super whinging until his press conference where he showed his true self.
I think Medvedev thinks he's the smartest bloke on court, in interviews and probably in life..... the odd reality check never harmed anyone!
Them Ruskies can be an extremely unendearable bunch.

Medvedevs’ ability to get from 5m behind the baseline to a drop shot at the net in what seems like three strides is insane. The defence he played was insane despite Rafa hitting it too him too much when it seemed like he had an easy kill. But he (Med) clearly hasn’t grown up to realise that if you whinge and complain in Australia in a certain fashion you will be generally disliked. Pretty low EQ. People respected his skill and fight but not his histrionics.

He wants respect but disrespects the umpire and ball kids. GAGF.

Rafas mental and physical toughness/endurance is insane.

Worth the four/five hours of sleep, only before getting kids off to school (until they get stuck at home probably in the next few weeks because of you know what)

Rafa forgot to thank Alex Hawke in his victory speech

Great effort by Rafa to come back from 2 sets down - amazing really to do that at his age.
