Team v Brisbane.

I note Brisbane have selected Neale and Raynor so our young kids/mids are gonna he up against it again this week. Hopefully Jack Ross can find some form and Bakes et al can back up last week’s great effort. Midfield hugely important again and we are under-manned again - hope our young kids can stand up.

Neale, Rayner & J.Berry are all out. This helps ease the current midfield dearth crisis for tomorrow night.

Not sure what line up you're looking at - neither Neale nor Raynor are selected.

Yeah not sure what you are looking at either. Their team looks beatable to me.

Defensively they definitely look beatable.

Andrews will go to Lynch
They have used Gardiner and Lester on Jack and Dusty in the past. They need to use Adams (big and strong but I don't think his footy smarts are great) on Jack and I see no-one except for a 2nd gamer or 9th gamer to be able to go with Dusty when he goes forward.

If we can isolate Dusty forward when he goes there, reckon he can kick a bag.

Both sides missing some of their best mids, we know our outs, they have Neale and Berry who are 2 of their best 3 mids.

Could be a season defining match this.

Any win will be a big big lift for the club in ipursuit of its title defence.

Win it and we take 4 points from a top 4 rival that we get a return bout against at the G where we get the chance to take a further 4 points from them. Critical points in the scheme of things.

We must beat the Cats as well in the return bout.

If we win this it will be better than the second coming.

From what I hear Prestia will play (but with the gabba surface being dewy at night, id give him another week as he's coming back from a calf injury).
Edwards likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if they err on the side of caution and give him another week and he plays against the Crows at the G
Looks like we are bringing back the troops for the Adelaide game

My bad - must’ve been looking at selection for an earlier round somehow. ...phew....I like them better without Neale and Raynor.

Good luck to Jack Ross. He'll need to play well with troops soon returning. The heat is on for him to perform.
Thought we may go for an extra tall but looks as though we'd rather bolster the midfield. I am ok with that. It's where we are weakest.

Yep.
Ball is in Jacks court.
Will be pleased to see him play on instinct ala his debut match at AO, rather than hold onto it and try to be cute.

Agreed. The team last week looked unbalanced on paper with 8 defenders, and looked unbalanced in the 1st half until Vlastuin was pushed further up the field. I think its the right decision (though I really like Mansell) in terms of team balance to have Vlastuin back playing that intercept role, as we need Grimes on Cameron.
Mansell and Houli also spent stints forward which didn't make sense either. Agree dropping one of those blokes makes sense.

Agreed Olden, good post.

Times a ticking for Jack, Riley has leap frogged him and taken that first cab off the rank midfield spot amongst the younger fringe.

Then there is Dow who has impressed in his time and of course Stackie who will also move into the side if he gets back to his best.

Ross needs to do something not only to hold or improve his rating at the RFC but also to get interest from elsewhere if he decides he wants to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

Plenty of water to go under the bridge but opportunities for Jack to stake his claims will soon start becoming harder to obtain when Edwards Bolton Cotchin Prestia and Lambo return.
