Tambling (merged)

Re: Tambling Threads (merged)

Judging from last week(s) I think he could still turn into a Jet.

Seems to have a bit more of the hunter in him - the arched back, backing himself in to dob one from the boundary. Still reckon he is only at 80% confidence at most. A few more decent pre-seasons to get the body right, a bit more time to mature football wise and as a very young Dad. I'm quietly confident.

As for the comparison - one needs a minder and the other is one. Plenty of water to flow under the bridge yet.

Might have been some hasty judgements on Roughhead too.

Imagine TT when he gets back from tonights game..."OMG we picked Deledio over Roughead, what were you thinking Miller???"

I'm a 5 foot 11, unfit 35 year old who specialised on a half back flank and I reckon that I could kick 5 against that Carlton defence.

I'll still take Lids and Bling over Roughead and Buddy, I don't care what TT has to say.

Interesting that Parkin was talking about Buddy this morning as the hardest player in the league to match up on. He didn't mention Bling, because my domestic cat could probably tag him easily...

Very selective quoting Turbo Tongue. I have also heard Parkin question Franklins heart and work ethic when the going gets tough. Care to expand on that.

SB, Roughhead gotta do more than 1 good game to get me thinking differently, i still think as a NO 2 pick he has been one of the most disappointing players at such a high pick.

Surely TT cant be that stupid to even half think that ???

When u put it like that lids/bling V buddy/roughie it does sound laughable, roughheads name stands out like a sore thumb.

Surely answered your own question there, AT ;)

Come on TT, don't let us down...

Re: Tambling Threads (merged)

Finals footy is what counts. Pressure. I dont reckon Franklin would get a touch when the heat was on.

And if anyone whacked him, well that would be game over for Buddy.

Re: Tambling Threads (merged)

Let's be honest,
After tonight's game, Roughead and Franklin > Deledio and Tambling.

And if anyone cares, the match on ABC2 is Carlton vs Richmond in the 1969 grand final.
And I might add it's terrible to watch. I would much prefer to watch modern day football.

And I might have been joking about my first statement. ;)

Yes we know ur mucking about Shers but i think people like Turbo Hawk will take it for all its worth

Re: Tambling Threads (merged)

And back onto the important stuff.
How boring is the 1969 grand final?
The only reason, and I mean the absolute only reason reason I have given any time to this is that Richmond won. And also my Dad happened to go to this game and I remember some of the names.
Other than that, it is very boring to watch.
And if you're wondering, I'm not a teenager.

Re: Tambling Threads (merged)

And continuing on the 1969 GF, Carlton are beating Richond by 4 points. I'm tipping a big last quarter from Richmond. Not that I saw it live. 1980 was the first GF I saw live. Can anyone help me out here?

100%. I happen to think Jughead will be a good player, has size, and great skills. Needs time to mature but will make it big time I think. Still would have taken Deledio at number 1. Almost every club would have.

Unbelievable that people are still questioning Franklin's worth. They guy has hauled in a 9, 2 x 6, 3 x 3 goals ad has kicked a goal in every match of the season he has played so far. He's pulling in over 15 possessions a match. And he's only 20 yo. Who gives a crapola whether he has a perceived heart or work ethic problem. I can guarantee not one non-darksider would be complaining about Franklin's stats this year if he was wearing the Tiger colours. Let's face it all the negativeness towards Franklin is due to us picking Tambling ahead of him and justifying it that way. I don't think it was necessarily a wrong decision, they are all still young and need time to develop to show their true worth, but the bagging of Franklin based on his performances so far is almost hypocritical.

Good call. Buddy and Tambling are two different players, chalk & cheese if you like.

I agree, they are both young and will need time to develop. By the time Tambling is 25-27, he'll be tearing them apart.

Tambling will be the next Krakouer. ;)....................but without the silky smooth tackling skills.

You're confusing me there GPB, on one hand you say Tambling will become a good footballer then you say he'll be the next Krakouer! ;)

Good one good1. If the players in question were playing for each others club PREnders would be launching into Tambling big time. Both good, one better than the other. So be it, we haven't done too badly.

From the top 6 that year I would suggest:

Franklin > Deledio > Griffen > Tambling > Roughhead > Williams.

Not a bad result at all. It is Meyer at 12 and JON the following year at 8 that seems to be of greater concern.

You're making good sense again jb, not sure why Redford & co don't credit you with more football nous?

Jealousy more than likely.
