Always seems to be a bit of sectarian tribalism in US politics. Well historically. Catholics (and to a degree those American cousins of Anglicans - the Episcopals) tended to go to the socially conservative Democrat wing. While the bizarre evangelical (cults) going Republican. So they feel blind loyalty to the cause, no matter what sort of heathen is in there. And Trump is a man of no principles. So will just say and do whatever the base wants, to get popular with those he’s identified as potential voters.

For context. This was upper middle ranking Singaporean schools. Not elite.
But have also had friends teach in South Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese public schools that also don’t have the same social decay and anarchy as western society foist upon them.

I’m not disagreeing with your points above. The hours worked in economy is less than 12 months so there are many under worked at the moment. And many of my friends in the building industry have stated time and time again that productivity has nose dived since COVID-19. So many people know how to work the system without fearing for their job.
I feel that letting in so many people will do more harm than good for our economy overall and for housing affordability. I want to be able to keep telling my children that if they work hard they can afford to buy a house.
Hopefully less red tape, greater productivity, improved building supplies and reduced demand via lower immigration can be found by all levels of government. But it must start now.

I have a few early childhood teachers in my family and I have seen a couple of books where there have been pages with “ Joey has two mummys …..” or something similar. The kids don’t bat an eyelid, it normalises it for them. The books weren’t particularly about that, just within a story.
About time Alcoholic tax is reviewed as the price of the amber liquid is a slap in the face for the working man who enjoys a tipple after a hard days slog. Gentleman Jim had a chance to address this last night but just ignored his flock who vote Labor. Time for Australian Liquor Alliance to put a candidate in each State Senate to push for a change.

Didn't get to see enough of Salty's presser so quickly watched Dutton's 7:30 Budget Reply performance tonight. The lack of grace, bullying and absolute refusal to answer a straight question he didn't like was a pretty stark opposite of Chalmers' performance last night.
You must be a glutton for punishment, no way I would watch Mr Potato Head spew his vitriol for 15 minutes, there are better things in life to do.

The budget reply is 1 of the most stupid and pointless things to have ever been invented. Seriously whats the point of it. The only thing you can get from it is irony. If that was how to fix the things Dutton thinks we should fix, why wasn't his government doing them a year ago when they were in power, why weren't they campaigning on those lines. The budget reply is nonsensical as you don't need to cost anything, you just ramble on about stuff that can never be proven just to criticise the current government that have been empowered by the people.
