Sydney Stack

Richmond brands itself as a ‘caring family’. To turf out their 20 year old wayward son would contradict their branding. He couldn't have a more supportive organisation behind him. His future is all up to him, I reckon.

That hit on Viney might be the greatest thing he ever does.

No, Round 15 against St,Kilda, 4 goals at a *smile* ground we lose at a fair bit was my standout, kicked off the 2019 season didn't lose a game again.

Will be a pity if Stack loses a good career because he hasn't been able to effectively use the support RFC have given him and continuing to give him. It is in his own hands and he needs to grow up fast before club patience runs out

Yep was gonna post the same thing. He was massive that game and kick started our run to the 2019 flag. Hope the club sticks tight and gives him some tough love. A backhander or 2 from Dimma and the senior players is what he needs.

Yes Richmond should give him his 7th chance or is it his 8th but why stop there why not 15 aren't we a caring club.

In fact if we are a caring club why should we be demanding standards of any players.

The biggest thing anyone has done for Stack this year is the judge that didn't buy into his bs and kept him locked up until the 6th of Jan.

If getting kicked out of the Hub didn't give him a reality check the maybe some tough love from the judge might get through to him.

A more commanding first dozen games has barely been seen this side of Allen Jakovich. He became our point of difference player almost instantly in the absence of some of our greats. He was the coaches’ hot magnet for about a month, and excelled in more than one role.
I hope he finds the clarity to steer himself through the chaos and in a positive direction.

Sometimes drawing a line and telling someone they've let you down and now have to face the consequence is caring for someone. Letting a person just run amok without having any control isn't showing much care either. He's clearly not listening to the softly softly approach.

There is only so much the club can do. Lived at Dimma’s for a month before Hub and that didn’t work at all .

Like Paul Gascoigne ??

Anyone know why he was in SA? Given their were direct flights from Melbourne-Perth, and SA was a hotspot, seems an odd stopover.

Sunny side up types don't condemn repeat offenders - look at Marlion. Change is possible for anyone at any age.

Sure, maybe its not to be with the tigers, but I damn sure hope it is because I reckon this kid has something more to offer society than just his football talents.
agree Md - change is the constant. my point about repeat offenders is they can wear you out and for the sun to keep shining you kind of cut them loose. But i hope Syd stays. He's younger than Marlion and much less experienced. He needs some guidance.

it will be sad to let him go but it seems that he hasn't learnt from his last indiscretion RFC is not here to baby sit him, but does he really want to play AFL. The behaviours he is showing now is the reasons why all clubs did not take the risk in the national draft.

Gazza reached pretty remarkable heights before going off the rails. Not really in the same stratosphere as SS.

The year that he had out of football recovering from injury after moving to Lazio messed with him badly. Newly resident in a foreign country, couldn't get that balance within a team environment, so started to drink a lot more. It was a spiral after that. That injury in the 1991 FA Cup final started his career on a quick descent.

Agree he's not in the same stratosphere as Stack who just won't accept rules. Gazza was inflicted with many many demons brought out a lot more by that injury and the incessant hounding by the media. Syd wishes he was as famous as Gazza.

I reckon keep Stack.
Draw the line very clearly in the sand, one that can be seen from the clouds.
Give him all the support, structure and love, yet make it abundantly clear to him that crossing that line again with irresponsible behaviour indicates to all and sundry that he would prefer to be elsewhere than playing footy at RFC.
Ongoing indiscretions, poor behaviour and unprofessional attitudes tend to sap the energy and spirit out of colleagues who are striving for team-oriented goals and achievements.
I wish Stack well in his endeavours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that in a year or two we will again be lauding some of his onfield mastery.
He could be gunnish sort of player, but that's in his hands if he wants it badly enough.
In the meantime, there's plenty of work and soul-searching ahead of him if he is to break out of and away from the demons that possibly grip him.
