If anyone could explain the prior opportunity rule to me I would appreciate it. Broad and Nank were both tackled and wrapped up immediately in first quarter contests yesterday, no chance whatsover of getting a disposal off. Free kicks against. Others who were tackled and dropped the ball like a hot potatoe - play on.

The Broad one was correct. He was not pinged for holding the ball but incorrect disposal because he had one arm pinned. It was the perfect tackle as the rule is now because he has to show intent to dispose when tackled and the only way he could do that was drop it or throw it.maverick said:

If he didn't dispose of it at all it isn't 50/50, it is holding the ball no matter whether there is prior opportunity or not. That's because to dispose of the ball he would be pinged for incorrect disposal.maverick said:
