Song/Albums that stir the emotions

I don't like pop/top 40 music, but recently I heard the best top 40 song I have heard in a good 10 years... those who know me, know that its mainly about the beat, but this song is also about the lyrics - as someone who has had their heart broken, and has taken a long time to recover, the lyrics are moving and very motivational... Titanium by David Guetta Featuring Sia:

You shout it loud, but I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud, not saying much
I'm criticised, but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium

Cut me down, but it's you who'll have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud, not saying much

I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
I am titanium
I am titanium

Stone hard, machine gun
Fired at the ones who run
Stone hard, as bulletproof glass

You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium

I am titanium

Interesting swinging 50s track Just a Gigolo by Louie Prima. David Lee Roth had a big hit covering it 30 years later. Funny clip, the well endowed woman is Louie's real wife Keely, who had an affair with the Chairman of the Board Frank Sinatra. Louie was mixed up with the NY mob as well. He has that vibe.

Louis Prima will always be King Louie as far as I'm concerned.

I teared up listening to this. :'(

I was going to start a separate thread on John Lord because of his influence on contemporary music., and his passing this week.

It seemed clear from the acknowledgement and quiet acceptance of his passing that many did not appreciate his contribution.

As co-writer of "Smoke On The Water", and that 4 bar riff - 0,3,5; 0,3,6,5; 0,3,5; 3,0,0 (fret positions) - arguably the greatest guitar riff ever, I believe Lord's contribution can be held at the same level as that of Beethoven & Wagner.

The riff is immortal and so is Lord's contribution.

If you haven't heard "Smoke On The Water" here it is from the soundtrack of my favourite Deep Purple album, "Made In Japan" (Live).

Bought 'Quiet Heart' at the weekend, the best of the Go Betweens.

Trying to make the kids like something meaningful.

The great drummer and singer, Levon Helm, died yesterday. Levon is one of my musical heroes. He will be sorely missed.

Peace and Love, Levon.

I can't believe that I missed this post and didn't hear of Levon's passing.

Great album by Norwegian band Ulver.
All 60's covers by obscure bands and some well known ones from the era.
They pull it off well.

Deadmau5 an artist who is either loved or hated in the electronic scene.

This song has a cool melody.
