I think, if we're going to try kids out, I'd be putting Rance or Post in at CHB, Thursfield at Full Back, and McGuane on the next tall. Get the kids who are going to be around, used to their positions. Silvester is not even a long shot, it's sad, but true. Better off saying good try kid, but let's not hang you out to dry.

Fair point, but isn't it better hanging him and whoever else out to dry for a few more weeks and then being able to make a well judged decision on their futures. Rawlings/RFC is doing absolutely everything the majority of us wanted post Wallace. I think it's great to be honest.

Exactly.
It doesn't matter a stuff if we win another game or not this year.
The blade's got 8 weeks to give blokes a chance and each of them should get at least 4 weeks to show what they've got except the proven spuds like McMuffin who've had their go.

As I posted else where today and was confirmed by GPB, Jade actually is not part of the selection committee.

im sure he still throws his opinion in, he was chosen as interim coach as he knew the younger guys better than anyone.

He made the statement himself on Saturday night on SEN. Said he wasn't part of the selection committee.

Then he should be. Surely if they expect him to coach he should have some say in who plays and who doesn't.....Yes we know we have structures and processes in place, but this is taking it just a bit far isn't it. ;D

Perhaps the selection committee want to ensure we finish very low (tank) and not involve the coach too much in that so he can stay positive? ???

Rawlings has been praising Hislop and he's been staying in the side so I'm sure he has some input into who stays in and goes out.

Yep, sadly the comments of Double D and Tigerbob r ringing true.

Too slow, not enough urgency and not talented enough. A good VFL player but clearly not up to AFL level.

Don't take any pride in it either, I don't think I've ever knocked a player to put on our jumper before they have played a AFL game. Yet anyone watching him at VFL level can clearly see his limitations will make it next to impossible for him to be a key defender on AFL quality players.

People can tout lines of give him a go since he is on our list all they like, fact is the only reason he has got a game from the rookie list is because we are churning through our list, he has a strong body and can kick. Normally the latter two would be something to be excited about in our side, but when that is all he brings at a AFL level, it's just not enough.

Just one more stark reminder of the state of our list and specifically Key Talls.

And that is the point, no one wants to know that we have players on our list that aren't going to make it but turning a blind eye to all the deficiencies and hoping that there is a one in a million chance that everything will be better at the elite level is nonsense.

Ok, but what have we lost by playing Silvester the last few weeks? Nothing. The season is shot. We're still getting games into young talls. If he showed something, then we gain. If not, we weren't expecting much anyway. So what is the issue?

The amount of bagging Silvester personally cops because he is apparently a "stark reminder of the state of our list" is astonishing IMO.

Yep I don't have a problem with it but it must be said that the shortcomings those who have seen him at the lower levels have mentioned have become apparent pretty quickly. Next.

No issue, nor have we lost anything. I for one, never said otherwise.

But yes, it is a stark reminder of our list that we are playing someone like Sylvester who should never be on the rookie list let alone playing a game for us. We need to be using the rookie list to build for the future, not as a second rate insurance policy for talls we don't have now.

Very well said DD. Really have to question why he was given an extension to the rookie list again this year.

Still cant understand why Silvester over Rance.

They're giving Silvester a final chance to learn and get his act together IMHO before the season ends. If he can't do that, then he's history.

Alex Rance will be around next year, but I seriously doubt that Silvester will be.

the scary thing is that most on PRE summed up he was no more than a VFL player very quickly on his exposed form at Coburg. It has taken our full time paid professionals years of close observation and only figured out the same thing at half time on Saturday night.

Silvestor hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

This thread is funny stuff.
