Shane Dunne CEO

Interesting choice, seems to have the experience to take on the role.

Brendan Gale is very hard to replace and I suspect Dunne will try and avoid the limelight for a while as he takes over.

Not a complete break from the past, but not just a continuity hire either.

Hope he does well and we can build on the strength off field we have built over Gale's tenure.

About Shane Dunne (from LinkedIn)
.... and this from the Aligned Leaisure WebPage. Interesting Benny Gale has been a Director of Aligned Leisure since 2015 which means he provided the overarching governance for Shane and the "Leadership" team. Lets just say that this is a remarkably "in house" selection (nepatistic?). I'm not sure why we spent $1M on a selection process (if we did) - especially as it seems we had such a ready made candidate:

"Shane has worked in senior roles in the sport and leisure industry for over 20 years, leading large teams of people across geographically dispersed teams to achieve common objectives.

As CEO of Aligned Leisure, Shane is also a General Manager within the Richmond Football Club Executive Team where he is responsible for the non-traditional commercial interests of the Club, which currently includes leading the Club’s education and community leisure business pursuits.

Shane completed his Master of Business Administration at Victoria University and has studied negotiation and leadership at Harvard University, USA and leadership at the Institute of Strategic Leadership, NZ.

Shane also undertook planning and management roles at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

He is a Non-Executive Director of Life Saving Victoria, where he is also the Chair of the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Performance Committee"

There seems to be regular mentions of us spending $1m on a CEO search.
It’s a nice round number but unlikely to be based on anything but inflated speculation.

It came from the reported number of what was spent on the AFL CEO appointment which itself was probably inflated. Probably around 25-30% of remuneration would be the cost.

No idea what our CEO gets paid but it’s not $3-4 million.

Looks like we found a good one and within our own ranks..
You do realise that people write their own CV's? Lets see him in action in taking us forward after a calamitous couple of seasons. We need new inspired leadership so lets get behind him

That's very true about CV's. Credentials is one thing but what do the Aligned Leisure customers feel about their fitness experience? Often when a big co. takes over the running of recreation centres, that were previously run by councils or YMCA, the outcome is not ideal. Increased prices, decrease in services, slower attention to maintenance, etc. because making money is a higher priority. I did a Google search of 'aligned leisure reviews' and they were disappointing to say the least, but it was a small sample size. Very poor if the co. says it helps the community with health and fitness but does not live up to it. Does it raise some doubt about him being a good choice for our CEO? Why no confirmation by RFC yet?
