He's been sub a lot too. He's scored 10.6 this year but has only averaged 59% TOG in 9 games.
Yep, that's what I mean by playing full games. If he's kicked 10 goals from 60% game time you could extrapolate that to say if he'd played 100% gametime he may well have kick 14 (I think....?)

Going by the law of averages: 17.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Great 1st quarter, closed down after that but still did a few super smart things, the kick to Deledio and the tap down to Ellis.

That was what I liked. Actually did things and got involved with the game even when he wasn't kicking goals. That's what we need from him consistently.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Forming a nice reliable set shot unit with Deledio, Vickery and Reiwoldt.....makes a big difference when your forwards kick the goals they should.

Still not convinced but he's done his job the last 2 weeks

Agree Carn. He has been constantly on the move which makes him far more spontaneous and damaging. I believe his tank is actually very good and he is now showing he can work over defenders by work rate. We know he is not quick off the mark and he has had to change his natural game which is now paying dividends.

He's not quick, but he is strong and a season of AFL last year may have helped him improve his stamina.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Tends to either kick a bag of 3 or not get near it. Added consistency is his next step because he has a lot of tricks we lack.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I have noticed him breaking tackles in the last couple of weeks which suggests he has improved his core strength.
I would like to see him crumb some goals as well as mark and goal, this would give us a very flexible and dangerous forward line.

Yeah I have noticed this too. Has been practicing with Dusty I reckon, he wants to take on tacklers. Actually it is a lot more common across the board than I remember at any time at Richmond. We have some very strong bodied players that are willing to take (and give) a hit. Loving it

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I'd love him to succeed - though we obviously need Lennon on the park racking up minutes. Concerned against the good sides he'll go missing - which of course is the norm for the majority of the small forwards.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

like a lot of our bottom half players - he is growing nicely into AFL and stepping up nicely - what I liked was he kicked his goals early in the first qtr when the game had not opened up - they weren't junk time goals.

It would be interesting to see which teams he kicks his goals against and when in the game he kicks them - I guess his next step is to kick some clutch goals late in a game when the game is up for grabs.

I think we have looked more dangerous when he and Lennon are both in the team.

He did kick the sealer against the Hawks under pressure and close to boundary

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

He's a natural footballer and a natural forward. Very valuable to us.

That moment near goal when he broke two tackles and snapped a behind under massive pressure was almost genius, Hd. He's getting there.
