Why did the club sack the coach who took them to the title ?
The more senior players like Larkham, Roff (don't understand why, he left last year anyway), Gregan etc did not like the authoritarian approach that David Nuciforia had. The Brumbies have always been a very player-centric (and player powerful) franchise. Thus they had him sacked, after taking the ACT to the Super 12 premiership. There was nothing wrong with his coaching methods, just is style.
The new coach, Nuciforia's former assistant coach Laurie Fisher, was more to their liking personnally, but I don't think he has what it takes yet to coach at that level. Although he has had terrible injury problems this season. Maybe he will improve next year as I think he has a three year contract.

He wasn't getting much of a gig though was he QC?
Surely they should see how dudes are feeling, knowing there is a new team
on the horizon, and keep them all happy. Must be pretty desperate to want to move to Perth.
As for Cameron Shephard, he was coming of the bench religiously for NSW, which is a shame, and Perth guaranteed him the starting full back position, which we simply can't do. I hate to see him go, I believe he will play for the Wallabies one day, but to do that he needs to be seen and that wasn't happening at the Waratahs, and it will happen in Perth.
So I wish him all the best at the Force, because he definately needs to look after his career. I just wish the NSWRU would have taken care of these contracts (Shephard & Lachlan MacKay) a while ago. If they had the team signed up by now the money that the Western franchise seems to have would be irrelevent. Grumble
!!! Grumble
!!!

Or was I thinking of that League 5/8 that was threatening to go to union?
Although it looks like we are hunting Braith Anasta now, which would more than compensate MacKay's departure. With the Canterbury Bulldogs NRL side under increasing salary cap pressure which is a problem they have had in the past, which lead to them having all their premiership points stripped a couple of season ago, Anasta seems the likely trade from the side, therefore he seems a very likely candidate to pull on a Waratah jumper in '06. He is meeting with Eddie Jones (Wallaby coach) this week to discuss the next step and his future in the sport.
But apparently NSW have also signed the Brumby five-eighth Sam Norton-Knight for next season but are keeping his recruitment quiet until the end of the Super 12 season. If that is true then that is absolutely fantastic, as Nathan Grey is moving to Japan (and big bucks) at the end of the season to finish out his career and therefore we would have ready made inside centre in either Anasta or Norton-Knight.
Sorry about the ramble
;D ......
