Round 6 other games

Each to his own. Just not my cup of tea though.

Should not be called footy as it is more like throw ball.
I lived in Newcastle for a little while and whenever the guys in the office talked about going to the football on the weekend, I'd something like "so you're driving down to Sydney to watch the Swans at the SCG?".

We'll, did they start to arc up.

Then I'd say "can't see why you call it football, you hardly ever kick it". And "it looks like British Bulldog".

Then they'd explode.:)

Yep!!

You mention Newcastle. Quick Draw McGraw.

I had a daughter and son-in-law living near Newcastle and on way home stopped to get petrol.

The attendant saw my Vic No. plate and started to rubbish AFL, like "aerial ping pong " and the like.

They are sure NRL mad up there, even though they only get small crowds to a game not like us.

Wish I had a dollar for every time I heard "aerial ping pong".:D

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm preferring the NRL this year. It's usually a better contest by far. I switched the footy off after the first quarter last night, partly because it was crap to watch, but mainly because the result was a forgone conclusion. It's a bit like watching junior footy in that you know who's going to win about 1 minute into the game.
Starting to agree. The difference VLandy has made to that comp is great. The shift back to on ref has improved the spectacle as the game keeps moving. Sure the ref misses stuff but it seems to balance out

The '6 again' rule has been fantastic. Keeps the game moving which leads to more fatigue and more scoring. The opposite of what the AFL has done.

Also I really enjoy the commentators on Channel 9. I have to mute the AFL as they do my head in.

Geez the ground at Metricon looks rough already. It's gonna be a mess by the end of these hubs.

Agree
The set re-set has made a big difference to the NRL this year, I agree with shad about the NRL, it's a better game at the moment.
The Pies v the Hawks was an embarrassment to the AFL code last night.
