Round 22 - the dead goldfish games.

Football, like life, comes down to a few moments.

Blues shouldn't have lost when controlling the ball with a minute left.

Owies kicks backwards to Saad, missing him, forcing Saad long down the line, and away go the Demons.

And there's the season there. Had it, lost it. Like 8-2 to (likely) missing finals.

You get what you deserve in footy.
BB the Blues should've held them off agreed.

The little things add up to kill ya.

Tigers fans know it well this year only too well, in fact moreso than most.

In all honesty, I thought the Blues provided a good blueprint on defeating the Demons. They were well prepared and almost pulled it off.

Melbourne have no idea on how to move the ball forward if they have to go out wide. Reminded me a bit of the 2017 GF.

Watched the end of the Melbourne, Carlton game. Given how close it was you would think it was anyone's game, but Carlton were smashing the Dees around the ground and really should have won. Gawn went in to the ruck and a couple of centre clearances later they had created opportunities and took them. Actually thought Brown was getting the ball to ground to create an opportunity when Pickett kicked the goal, reckon that was a good play by Brown.

Melbourne were lucky to win that. Melbourne play like that and they will not win the flag, nowhere near the team they were in 2021. Melbourne were getting pressured, they were outnumbered at the contest, Carlton were all over them.

Plus, Melbourne way more inside 50s and very inaccurate. Their forward line is barely functional and the defence is just not what it was.

The number of free kicks not paid is astronomical in the game these days, which of course leads to massive inconsistency because no-one can tell whether a free will be paid or not. There was a Carlton free paid late in the game when the Carlton player was running for the ball and their arm was grabbed by a Melbourne player. Clearly a free kick for holding the man. Trouble is the 50 odd that happen every game and they pay 2 or 3 of them. Complete joke.

Will be a sweet entree to the finals set up if we manage to slap the hawkers tomorrow n guarantee our finals berth, then the Woofers follow up by slapping the Hawkers next week n just leave the Bloosers dangling on a must win game against Colonwood to get back into the eight.
There'd be a few clenched n puckered arseholes at Carlscum sweating on the result.

The fixture is a bit *smile* next week with the dogs game on first. Dogs may lose so then the Pies Blues is for nothing. Simultaneous games would be great.
Like the old days!

I think the AFL should look at this and utilise , somehow every ground, every state and play ALL games on Saturday 2.10pm.

Those days….

Carlton got away with so many shoves in the back, arm chops and ball throws.

Saw an absolute doozy in the centre square. Cripps has the ball and 1 arm pinned just tossed it backwards. It went to a Melbourne player but still, he had one arm pinned and disposed of the ball not by foot, how in the hell could that be a legal disposal?

Carlton needed to lose that because of the bullsheet they got up to this week

and yeah they were entitled to go for it, but that's their middle name innit...?

He does it multiple times per game, every game.

The Collingwood smaller forwards are the main danger to the Blues next week. Do the Blues have the defensive smalls to stop the likes of Elliot, De Goey and Free Kickivin, thats the issue for the Blues.

Cripps, Walsh, Weitering, McKay and Curnow, provide the Blues with the weapons to beat the Skunks.

Depends on how much damage the Blues playing group will have sustained after tonight.

Media will call it game of the year but I saw two also-rans tonight.
Yeah. people can confuse a close game with a great game. Happened last week, even on here, lots saying Coll v Melb was fantastic. Didn't get much traction though after the afterglow. It wasn't a bad game. Also a great game can blow out a bit at the end and it can sink without a trace.

And why wouldn't you throw the ball? You are likely to get away with it about 80% of the time so it is the percentage play.

If only the maggots would actually enforce the rules as they are written - throwing is not allowed.
