Round 17 - the other games

What a turn of events it would be.
First we take the premiership off them in 2017
2020 we hand them the wooden spoon.

delicious

We will want to turn up and play though.

Suddenly has become a danger game.

Blokes are playing for their sports now so we shouldn't be coasting in this one.

We wasted picks on Griffens Elton and McBean but the crows are able to find a kid like Himmerberg.
The crows won't stay down too long, they might not hold onto players but they can draft.
The Crouch brothers, Laird, Doodeee & Liptak

Hey @LeeToRainesToRoach Dermie keeps going on about how young the Hawks is - is this correct?

Well they're 25.95 and +.0.62 over the Dogs.

If Burgoyne is taken out it comes down to 25.39, which would be their second-youngest team for the year (after 24.80 last week). They had one younger team in 2018, one in 2017, five in 2014 when they had a lot of injuries and won the flag, two in 2013 and 21 in 2012 when they made the GF.

But of course Burgoyne is playing and will be playing next year.

Another way to put it is that Hardwick has fielded 9 older teams, all in the past three seasons.

Think Dermie is engaging in some marketing talk for the fans.

Young for them, old for everyone else.

From what I can see, oldest to youngest this round are:

Geelong, Port, GWS, Richmond, Carlton, Hawthorn, North, West Coast, Brisbane, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Saints, Adelaide, Fremantle, Essendon, Sydney (Gold Coast and Pies to come).

So Dermie going on about how "young" they are but they are the 6th oldest listed squad for this year, sure impacted by Burgoyne and Puopolo, but all those teams at the bottom have players north of 30. The Hawks are a year and a half older than the Swans team playing tonight.

Agree, should be a good hit-out with a fortnight off to the first final. Just hope they don't go the knuckle and get our blokes in.

You need to go easy on Hawthorn fans, conditioned as they are to being successful. There will be a lot of dummy spitting and claims the game has gone to pot since the Hawks ruled the roost as it is. They'll do it harder than most.

Three cheers for the baby Hawks!

Burgoyne needs to retire, just chasing the record.

As good as he has been I think it may get ugly next year and it will sad to see him struggle with the game.

Been a great player and spoke person for his people.

Agreed. As mentioned in another thread, I find it a very odd decision after seeing Roughead forced out last year.

Hilarious listening to Jonathan Brown saying that all Zorko was asked at the press conference for this match was about playing us 1st final.... the mental pressure on them is going to be extraordinary next few weeks!

Ok. So it’s pretty much 3rd/4th or 5th for us.
most likely it will be 3rd.
Port at AO or Bris at Gabba. Hmm. Probably the latter.
