Robbie Tarrant

i think it has more to do with playing Sunday night, then travelling to Perth for a Friday night game, than it being rd7. Same with Cotch.
I can understand this. 5 day turnaround, longish flight and hard ground. Not great for 32 year old hamstrings. But why does the same not apply to Edwards and Jack?

I'd hope we rest Tarrant for a while, preferrably months.

Part of me hopes this will be the last we see of Tarrant for the season.
With the Balta experiment up forward looking shaky & young Nuyon showing plenty, we really shouldn't persist with a veteran who's been only ok.
The larger question is what happens with our forward line beyond this season..
Exactly.

I reckon he's really struggled at times. The Geelong practice game he was beaten on the lead and in one on ones constantly. Looked slow. Concerning. Ok, cut him some slack for the fact the ball was coming in pretty easy and it was his first game with us i.e. learning the system etc. Hawthorn practice game he was good - filled the hole well quite a few times. Season proper, bar the GWS game, he's again struggled. Some people reckon he went ok v the Dogs but I don't align to that. He played a lot on Naughton and Naughton got away from him numerous times and turned him inside out. Naughton finished with 2.3 when he really should have been 4.1 if not for his dodgy kicking.

For a number of reasons I'd much prefer us to be using Biggie and Miller and seeing what they've got (or don't have), for the long term. Not sure if I see much point in playing Tarrant ahead of those guys.

Tarrant is not required when Vlastuin and Grimes are both available to play.
At a pinch we can send Balta back for match ups but not sure why we need to promote Biggy atm?

What will Dimma do now with a bloke who can really only play in one position?....... and let's face it, on the sample size we have, he wasn't playing it too well. I'd cut him a bit of slack that he's in a new system, unsettled backline, overall team performance not great etc...... but...
It's not as if being under constant siege is something new to him.

We should be the first club to give one back in the mid season draft!

Last night we unveiled the best backline in the league. That line up needs to build momentum.
Not sure where Tarrant fits in.

I'd do it. Clubs should have a cooling period. Thanks Robbie all the best. see ya.

Two year contract but not likely to be on a shed load of money. I guess his recruitment was a panic move when Astbury hung up the boots and Talia was more banged up than they thought. There was no guarantee that Gibcus would be available in the draft. Without Tarrant on the list they may have been caught out. Surplus to needs now though.

Still, he is a decent enough back up if injuries hit. Only problem is that he is now getting in the way of Miller and Biggy.

Depth. But line ball with Biggy & Miller capable of producing the same and so much development left in them.

We were following the Dawks game plan thinking that the Tarrant experiment would give the same result as when the Dawks got Brian Lake :cupgold:cupgold

In all fairness we didnt realise we were gonna get Gibcus and once we did get Josh I dont think we expected him to do what he has done to the level he has done it.

So in that position getting Tarrant or a big Key back made sense.

As of now things have changed again situation is not static this caper is fluid.

Robbie might play some outstanding footy for the RFC yet, although he seems to have been off the pace.

Gibbus under direct management on field from Grimes he is learning within the best defensive unit of the past 6 years in the comp.

The remaining pillars Grimes Tigga Broad and Noah will allow him to flourish and develop at a great rate, as he will be encouraged to do what he does best with the comfort knowing senior support is always there.

I think Tarrant is a fine player and the strategy to get him in to replace Astbury while we rebuild the backline after a successful period was sound. He is very experienced and a good player to have around with young players learning their craft.

But, last night begs a huge question: who the hell would you leave out to put him back in?

I can't think of anyone, plus, Biggie needs a chance and Miller needs development.

Just can't see a spot for Tarrant at the moment.

If Balta is playing down back, I don't think Tarrant plays at all. And I don't think he's anywhere near as poor as some think.
