Robbie Tarrant

I think we will be very fortunate if we get pick 20 in any deal to be honest. North have total control due to the PSD threat. We have to hope they can get someone else interested in a move to them and then it might be different.

Yeah I think its more likely than not that we get Pick 38 and only that, which will massively undersell CJ but we need to be aware that thats highly likely

I presume everyone realizes that we can't sign him until the free agency period opens on Oct 1. So until then anything might happen for Robbie, Callum and Mabs.

Grimes was basically playing a lone hand down there this year. This is a very very good pick up. Just needs to play his role and the flow on for players like Grimes, Balta, Broad etc will be massive.

Given we have lost Astbury, any back line is going to be much stronger when you can add a Tarrant Balta Broad & Vlaustin to it.

In the unlikely event the entire backline stays fit, it's going to be near impenetrable

Not if our midfield can't get their hands on it or apply no pressure up field.

100%. exactly. At this point its about mitigating the losses anyway. he's out of contract, can walk to Nth. we have zero leverage even with potential compo picks in play. At end of the day, CCJ has decided to walk and anything in the 20's is crazy talk. Think the above is probably the maximum we get.

Get our full ruck n mids fit n operating properly, plus blend in the youngsters gradually n our mid field is reasonably competent. Couple of minor tweaks to the game plan n polish the linkage between mids n forwards should put us back in the hunt.

I take it if Tarrant does not join us over the next couple of days he will be involved in the CCJ trade.

The talk is we,ll get Tarrant with a late pick (so we don’t lose the Chol compensation pick) and CJ to get us a pick between their picks 20 and 38 (ie North to engineer getting a pick say around 25-35 then trading it to us)

We are waiting to see what the Chol compo is first. If its decent then Tarrant will be included in the CCJ trade. If we get nothing then Tarrant will be a Tiger within a few hours.

I was wondering about this situation. Presumably Tarrant has been offered a contract for 2 years from us. Talk is he may be caught up in a deal with CCJ. What if Norf get cute and CCJ walks to the PSD. IMO we have the option, given Tarrant has a contract offer from us, letting Tarrant without a contract do a preseason with us and signing him up after the preseason. After I think the end of October if he is unsigned by Norf he is no longer a Norf player (similar to CCJ if he walks) This preserves the Choi supplementary. Tarrant may be confident in our word and ultimately has the right if it fell thru to sue us for breach of contract if things fell thru for some reason. Am I missing something?

Exactly, they are bloody hard to win so you have to attack every opportunity. I'm happy for us to bring in anyone and trade anything we think will give us a crack.

Let tomorrow worry about what happens next.
And furhermore, we owe it to our champs to give them one or two realistic last campaigns for a flag. JR.SE,TN,DG,DM,TL,TC,KL,DP etc all nearing the twilight zone. In two year's time they will be glorious memories and revered heroes. We have a freak list and as we know, they sometimes only come around every 37 years and we just might not be here for the next one...

I agree we need to do what we can to give ourselves the best chance of winning another flag, but not any cost.
Otherwise we would be looking at Mitchell, O'Meara, Talia, Cox, Casboult and Dunstan.

Salary cap might be an issue, but if we traded out our collection of picks, plus some from next year for those guys we would have a better chance of winning next year, than if we didnt.

We need the right balance. Tarrant yes, maybe one of the mids above, but not for a high pick.
