Wow, was a gun, no doubt. After watching the clip on the RFC site of Disco kicking his 100th goal in 1980, I was browsing through some of the stats from that year. When we beat Carlton by 53 points in Round 8, Rob Wiley had 46 possessions. What a gun!
For sure Tigerman. That was back when there wasn't a heap of cheap touches back and forth across half back either.Wow, was a gun, no doubt.

it would have been Tigers of Old. I think there have been a few 50 possession games that I can remember (Diesel Williams, Steve Malaxos, Tom Mitchell), but didn't know that Rob gave the half century a nudge himself! You just know that was a quality 46 too.
Cheers Ossie.
I loved Wiley as a footballer. I still have his autograph that I got from him as a kid.
Reckon he was a bit underrated because he was surrounded by so many star players but truth of the matter is he was a star in his own right.
Incredibly talented, dual sided with skill to burn. Loved watching him play.

Yep, against a reserve grade Swan Districts sideRemember Roachie kicking 10 in a half at VFL Park, Escort cup match?
Yes, Disco came on after half time when BT hurt his knee, which meant he missed a fair chunk of the second half of the season. BT kicked 71 goals from 15 games that year and I remember being disappointed when he was a late out on Grand Final day for Ian Sartori due to the rain that was forecast and did arrive. We were top heavy at both ends and in hindsight didn't quite get the mix right.Remember Roachie kicking 10 in a half at VFL Park, Escort cup match?
