stunned.numb.gutted.sad. I can't think of the right words to say about this news.
Richo, I am proud to say I have seen every single one of your games, mostly live at the ground. The rest, obviously, on tv. You were one of the very few reasons I looked forward to going to see the Tigers play over the past 16 years , even when we had no hope of winning. We never knew which Richo would take the field. The only sure things were that you would play your heart out for the club, sometimes to your detriment, and that you would be entertaining.
I remember quite a few games that you won for us of your own boot. The times you tore apart the opposition, including champions. The sitters that you missed ;D, the impossible ones that you got. The passion you showed.
I was worried when the draw came out for 2010 that your 300th, or final game, would be interstate. Breathed a sigh of relief when I worked out it would be here.
Now this news :'(. At least I can say that I saw your first, and also your final game live in person.
While a lot of knockers over the years have made fun of your 'antics', never did I hear any negative remarks about you as a person. We are proud of the way you carried yourself outside of the playing arena. Even the most one eyed opposition supporter respected that. In the latter part of your career, I noticed the heckling from the opposition crowd slowly start to do die down. They finally began seeing what we have known all along. What a great player you have been. Evidenced at the brownlow a couple of years ago.
It's a football tragedy that a great player like yourself played a majority of his career in a crap team. If your teammates over the years had shown half your passion for the club, showed how much you hated losing, we would have been a lot more successful. It's a shame that you didn't get to your 300th, or play in successful teams, but many great players haven't either.
I hope you have great success in whatever you decide to do with your future.
Thank you for all the great memories you have provided me over the years.
Now I'm off to cry
