Richmond v Westcoast cancelled????

Please present data that supports this. NSW had larger gatherings earlier than VIC but no big outbreaks. Same with other states.

Schools - please show the virus transmissions within schools. From what I understand children are catching it from family members and testing positive from that. Please show the data that demonstrates in school transmission anywhere in Aust.

Highpoint/Bunnings/Chadstone have been busy for 3 months. Bunnings sales are actually lower now than they were a month ago and a month before that.

How many of the last 2 weeks cases are related to Cedar Meats/hotel Quarantine? Neither have anything to do with restrictions being lifted.

Already did on the corona thread.

Never before have I been so embarrassed of our media and dumb public!

This is absolutely fake news at it's best.

Shame on the Federation - and empowering these idiot State Premiers!
And having delivered his missive, @Sir disappeared back to his doomsday cabin in the woods clutching a copy of the prepper's guide to tying knots and a Walmart ammo catalogue.

1 other bit that is an advantage to us is this is an away game at the G, meaning we will still have a min of 8 home games (hopefully all at the G, we've had 2 so far, so another 6 at the G after the Melbourne game.

1 less away game from the G is good.

Are you serious - or just fishing?

What part of my post do you refute?

PS - I don't live in a 'dark cabin' and I have worked in the COVID19 GOVT response for 3 months.

You - in the meantime - criticise my comments - why?

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t try to fixture the Melbourne game at Marvel. They’ve done that before.

I say good on AFL HQ for not throwing the towel in, either pre season or now.
To quote the most common change room slogan. "When the going gets tough, the tough get going"

If the AFL are going to make this season happen, and they are clearly determined to do so, with a fair bit of good reason, ie: to keep the game afloat. Then the compromise this week is a good one. No teams will be a round behind as a result of this. The Essendon v Melbourne situation was no choice.

They have to plan for issues but they also have to plan for the spread to slow down because otherwise the season really will be done.

There's actually nothing there to refute.

No facts, no science, no evidence.

Just opinions and hyperbole.

A good debate doesn't start with an ideological rant.

Okay ............ I kinda vowed not to get involved in the politics of this again (less my Peanuts cartoons further offend people?) but I'll try and KISS:

a. this has no genuine link to the BLM marches
- that's not to excuse the inept endorsement!
b. the AFL is trying to do the best it can in a MAD political environment!
c. there is no evidence or science to support the decisions that Comrade Dan and Inbred QLD are making!
- COVID19 is little more than a virulent flu
- the mortality rate continues to drop remarkably
- the numbers in VIC are indeed increasing - because (in part) the testing is showing up every person with CV19 that previously / simply didn't report
eg many of you have already had it - and didn't know it!
I won't even talk about the volume of false tests (eg a certain AFL player - and hundreds others!!!!)
- TBH - if NSW ramped up similarly we would find thousands are/have been infected
- it's a meaningless statistic - kinda like a speed camera on the dual lane Hume Highway (wheras our hospitalizations and deaths continue to drop!)
- Premier Dan has welcomed the distraction from the Branch stacking, PFAD's and Bush Fire Inquiries
- Inbred QLD is actually appealing to her base (amazingly!) and is actually likely to get re-elected accordingly!!!

I got shouted down a few months ago when DyerTribe asked for statistics. ..... okay - it takes ten seconds to read beyond the headlines - and if you can refute a single statement I've made - you're welcome to repercharge.

Never before have I been so embarrassed of our media and dumb public!

  • COVID19 is little more than a virulent flu - You just described Spanish Flu. Being a virulent flu is a bad thing.
  • the mortality rate continues to drop remarkably - I'm in Florida and UP we go. 8K cases a day, and now, 2 weeks after the start of the curve, up goes mortality. It's just delayed. 500K people can't be wrong. Your attitude is being played out in real life here. You want data, take a look at what happens when Conservative run your state. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...tion=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage
  • QLD is much safer by every statistical measure. Sure, Vic is testing more, but it doesn't account for the difference in rates.
I agree that everyone in Australia is probably going way too far on the virtue signaling. Guys playing footy is really not the problem, and letting them in to play footy is not realistically a significant danger.

So Cotch, (captain) and Riewoldt, (vice captain), have both sowed the seed in our playing list that they may not be willing to go to a hub.Probably explains our mindset this season?

Richmond star Jack Riewoldt concedes he's torn on AFL hubs and whether he would willingly travel interstate for a few weeks to complete an allotment of games.

Full context.

Trent Cotchin concedes some Richmond players are a chance not to participate in the hub (paywalled)
Glenn McFarlane & Jay Clark
Herald Sun
June 30, 2020

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has conceded a handful of the club’s players may not go into an interstate hub for personal reasons as AFL fixture boss Travis Auld forecast Victorian clubs could now spend up to a month on the road due to the ever-evolving border restrictions.

The Tigers had hoped their now postponed Round 5 clash with West Coast at Metricon Stadium would mean they wouldn’t have to go into a hub.

But the reshuffling of the fixture, due to Queensland’s response to Victoria’s alarming coronavirus spike, means the reigning premier is now certain to hit the road at some stage.

Asked if a couple of Richmond players would be unlikely to go to a hub, Cotchin said: “That would be a genuine chance.”

“I think it is going to be a challenge.

“(There’s) no doubt our footy club will be there (in a hub) and will partake and do what we need to do to continue the season.

“But there’s going to be a number of different individual cases or scenarios.

“We have guys with pending babies and other challenges or things going on in their life that we will just have to manage accordingly, and that is something we will manage inside of the club and make sure everyone is comfortable and happy.

“I think the most important thing is that our partners feel supported and have the required help that is going to be needed with players and coaches and staff being away for a period of time.”

Wouldn't expect it to help our apparent lack of unity.

It's something that has some merit. It's our older leaders who are having shockers. You've got to ask whether after this elongated break, returning to something that doesn't feel right, the fact they are nearing the ends of their careers, and most are dual Premiership players, whether the driving hunger is there anymore. Priorities change as you get older.

100% agree. The hunger would no doubt be there in a normal season as it fits in with their broader emphasis on enjoying the journey (as a team and an individual) and the ongoing improvement mindset. We are a mature group that’s been to the summit multiple times and this current bastardized version of a season would test the appetite and motivation. It certainly has for me as passionate supporter.
