RICHMOND v HAWTHORN - GAME DAY THREAD

Mason and Martin have already played many more better games in 8 weeks than Tambling has in 5yrs , i dont know how he keeps getting games.

Ridiculous comment re them playing more good games than Tambling has in 5 years. Tambling played more than that last year let alone five years. Ridiculous Tambling bashing for the sake of it. And if you get our players surnames correct it would also make it more credible. Ben Nason is showing good signs but still has a long way to go.

Happy to be proven incorrect but after you see Mitchells tackle the shot pans back and you see Deledio to the left of screen. There may have been others to the right but from that vantage point it looks as though Deledio could have put the block on. Until it is an instinctive process we will struggle. We get far to many players caught from behind when they are unaware that they are going to be tackled

This is a area that we are still suffering as a result of the teachings of the tanned one. He was the run on ahead specialist. I've been bagging on for years about protecting the ball carriers. I think this is something that DH is working on as I have seen it more this year but we still have a way to go. Hopefully this becomes second nature to the tiges as this is the way a premiership team goes about it (ie. Geelong)

This loss just once again higlights the hard simple cold fact that the club is infected with ineffective, meek and unskilled, mentally impotent duds who lack awareness, composure and smarts.

McGuane is a pathetic footballer a throwback to 80's footy imo and i have never rated him, no brains, no composure and no skill, but he does compete BIG *smile*ING DEAL he cost how many goals yesterday, and imo was a major contributor to the loss with his brainless acts and pathetic skills, and does so week in week out yet so many mediocrity enraptured ferals rate him its laughable.

Same goes for White , same goes for Moore, same goes for a myriad of others like Hislop, Thomson, King and Polo who are on the list.

Tambling is a meek footballer that seems to coast, and as for young Rance ..................... wtf is going on there. I was wrapt when we got this fella as were most and had him pencilled in at FB, but its clear that after a promising start the kids treading water at the moment seems to have no confidence and lacks composure, that stupid free against Hodge highlighted this perfectly yesterday when he sucked Rance in. The kid is struggling for whatever reason and i reckon plenty of others such as my dear lambs fry ;) would be much harsher in their assessment of him he is fast becoming another Pattison and Hall, another nothing player without an obvious position, he is not an enforcer he is not a rebounding defender nor skilled midfielder and he certainly aint a key forward. Facts are facts and if Rance cannot make it as a tall defender he is in trouble.

Simmonds and Cuzzi will retire at years end so will Polak but the club fairdinkum has to stop wasting time on spuds and vfl level players or it aint going anywhere.

Biggest joke of all was Wallet on SEN stating McGuane was a fighter but lacked smarts and skill !!!!!!!!!!!

WTF WALLET if he is so sh!t why did you keep wasting time on the dud playing him same goes for Schulz the bloke he didnt rate before he even came to the RFC as coach yet kept him for another 5 years !!!!!!

No wonder the club is *smile*ed .

Its been evident and obvious to the likes of myself whove ranted and spat blood year in year out over this crap and thwese *smile*ers get paid 100s of thousands of dollars to do nothing, or they are incompetant, charletans.

What is evident

Cotchin, wonderful clearance player, a genuine bona fide footballer and the nexdt captain of the RFC imo along with Martin, and Jack, are the 3 mainstays of the future push.

Deledio and Foley add to the mix in the middle.

Add another 2-3 quality kids this years end and development into other types such as Astbury, Griffiths, Post, Vickery, Nason, and Taylor and the future will take care of itself.

Nason and Martin have gladdened me this year i like em both, Astbury is a very good type also from what ive seen of him, Post has stagnated with 2nd year syndrome and will be ok whilst Griffiths looked real promising till he copped that knock last week, Contin will be a player, shame he is on the rookie list as he will add to Martin and Cotch through the middle as a clearance palyer with skill and poise and Gourdis is improving.
Another ruck is paramount.

Hats off to Hardwick who is gonna do it real hard for a while but i respect his efforts and his mission statement.

I like where he is going i just hope they are smart enough to forge another massive cleanout of space wasters and VFL players on the list at years end .

McGuane, Polo, Polak, Moore, Hislop, White, King, McMahon, Thomson, Simmonds, Cousins are the names that imo should be gone at years end one way or another with Tambling, Edwards, Rance, Nahas, and Jackson on the trade table to see what betterment they could attract. Likes of Graham may be saved if they show marked improvement this year or no rucks are attained.

Same goes for White

I'll stop you right there...

The simple FACT is that White stood up for his teammate in the final quarter when the game was on the line (mental strength), had the awareness to side step Brown, then composure to kick a goal from 50m on the run.

But you can continue preaching your own version of the "facts" if you prefer.

Good to see Nahas has grown on you craig. A couple of weeks back you had him in the "Dud. Delist" bracket along with the first lot of names.

Tambling had his best year last year but he still was way below were he should be , he has 1 good game every 8 games and people like you forgive him.................What games have been watching , this player keeps making mistake after mistake and he has no jam tart.............

Tambling seemed to thrive in his defensive roll last year, not sure why they are playing him all over the place this year, he needs to be settled into one role.

Yep we can't under-estimate the importance of Foley to the Tigers. A bit under-rated by the media imo. He brings a lot of balance back to the Tigers. Gus, happy with his effort. Hawthorn have a very weak ruck setup atm (Renouf has struggled so far), and he may be tested when he plays more experienced ruckmen but he did also bring more balance to the Tigers as well.

Axel is a ripper & also agree he is underestimated. Watched him closely whenever astopage/contested ball was on sth stand wing in front of me. several times he just moved the likes of mithcell or sewell off the ball to make enough space for him to at least get a solid go at the ball. His core strength must be very good.

I havent seen coburg this year but when I saw Gus today.....has he grown &/or put on a few kg's? he looked massive. Certainly presented well & definitely earned a few more weeks i reckon. Only thing id love to see him do a bit more would be to use his massive frame to block out/hit opposing midfielders.

Id leave Polak in also. Some far to harsh on McGuane.

Did anyone else notice Newman really trying to pump up the team ie getting to team mates, seemed really focusing on revving them up particularly in the last qtr? If id had anything to do with a mor solid 4 qtr effort then well done newwy.

Sam Mitchell = Girl
Should have grown out of pulling hair in Grade 1

Campbell Brown = Pretend Hard Man
If you're going to hit someone and stand over them taunting wouldn't you hope that you'd done a good enough job that they didn't get up and head butt you in the nose....then to sook about it to the umpire :hihi
Even funnier when he was remonstrating with White only for Whitey to turn him inside out and bang it hime from 50m.....Looked like a total goose :rofl

I was watching on TV but imagine that there must have been a tirade of abuse flying over the fence at him seeing as it was all happening at the Punt Rd End. Just annoyed he was able to dance around like they had won the premiership when the siren went ::)

Where was AI defending him mate? Was just saying the poster was over the top in the comment when Tambling would have had 8 better games than the games Martin and Nason have had this year last year let alone over his 100 game career which the poster was insinuating. I quite like Nason and Martin, just saying that they still have a long way to go. I dont mind Tambling, he is no where near as bad as people make him out to be here. Not his best form but we know what he is capable of, he just needs to find it and I would suggest soon otherwise it might be too late for him at our club. I think I still has a role to play and is better than many on the list. If I was him i'd give the hypnotherapy another crack.

The game we should have one slipped through our fingers

I was at the G yesterday. Hawthorn were dreadful. We were inside the 50 meter zone more times than them. So why did we lose? Answer. Our forwards weren't desperate enough to fight to keep the ball in the danger zone and lacked a clean passage to goal. How many times did we play the flacks for Christ sake. We had some big timber up forward but still we persisted with an indirect game. As soon as it was obvious Hawthorn had the thumbles we should have gone for the jugular. AKA tackle the pricks to put maximum pressure on the opposing side. It was blindingly obvious yet *smile* didn't take advantage of Hawthorn's obvious weakness. Players were hanging off, reluctant to tackle the opposition. Buddy Franking being the prime example. Not good enough. We need a win or hadn’t the brains trust at Punt road worked that out.

The coach has had enough time to evaluate the team – he should know by now who is worth persevering with. Put together a winning combination NOW. We are a proud footy team and we want to see our best team out on the field. I support the development ethos but it has to be weighed up against the pragmatic need for some semblance of success on the field. There’s a core of good, young players coming though and I want to see them give the opposition hell. Let’s begin promoting a winning culture now!!! Give the kids a go and cut the duds. This young team needs a bit of stability now so they can challenge their opponents.

Having said that I haven’t barracked for the yellow and black as passionately as I did yesterday for a long time. It felt good. We have some great up and comers and they deserve our support.

Look i dont like talking bad of any player in our team but he sure is the most frustrating player in our side considering how the other 4 players traded around him have gone so far...................Lids , Griffin , Buddy and Rough..................After 100 games you would just think he would show a bit more , i just reckon a stint in the VFL for 2 or 3 weeks might snap him out of it.......................Last week against Adelaide he started that rot in the last quarter when he handballed straight to the opposition in the backline without much pressure and they got the first goal from it , it just got me so angry that mistake coming from him. It wouldnt not have worried me so much if he was a consistent player as i believe one or two mistakes then wouldnt look so bad , but it looks bad with him because in 5yrs he has not played many good games......................

I was a member here some 5yrs ago under another name and one thing that really pissed me off was when so called Academics like yourself kept correcting loyal members on their spelling and Punctuation mistakes like you are something special. It looks like not much has changed here at all , fair dinkum havent you got something positive to say about this thread instead of picking up spelling mistakes , doesnt it occur to you that maybe some people are not as gifted as you.................You sound like that other idiot on channel 9s footy show with all that botox in his face. Go on scour my post and look for all my spelling mistakes ...........LOL

Cmon grow up

Just finished watching the game (love IQ), and wanna say the boys played really well
Wasn't the prettiest game of footy but was a great game to watch

Newman was fantastic, attack on the ball, intensity, leadership was first rate, would be a star if he could play like that week in, week out
He looks good delivering the ball into 50
Webberley showed some good signs, great courage putting his head over the ball and getting crunched by Gilham
Whites best game ever, was crying i was laughing so hard when he stepped Brown, then applauded when he laid a great tackle on Brown a minute later
Graham very good, Foley and Chimpa smashed it in the middle
Most others were very good

Rance, reckon trade is the best bet for him
Farmer didn't really do much
McGuane's turnovers hurt
Blinga see farmer

All in all really wished we won it, but good effort
now we need to back it up next week
