Richmond 2017 AFL Premiers

Bodies and minds were both trained and managed brilliantly. Hopefully the specifics of our advantage remains secret for a very long time.

“How do Richmond stay so fit and focussed all the time?”

Just watched the presentation of the medals again, never gets old .

I don’t think there’s been a Premiership side with more great stories

Vlaustin, failed mid
Grimes, injury plagued
Prestia, dodgy Knees
Dusty, was still only human at the start of the year
Ellis, too soft to be in a finals side
Grigg, can’t kick, too slow
Reiwoldt, selfish footballer
Cotchin, poor leader
Edwards, doesn’t deliver in the big stage
Astubury, can’t stay on the park, too slow
Houli, see Ellis
Rioli, just a kid
Rance, not that long a go most had him delisted
Townsend, well he was just no good
Caddy, too slow, 3rd club reject
Lambert, just a vfl player
Nankervis, dropped from the Swans 12 months earlier
Mcintosh, not good enough
Graham every club over looked him at least once, a lot said too slow
Broad, another failed state leaguer
Butler, could get near it at vfl 12 months earlier
Castagna , was just a messy footballer

Dimma, well he can’t coach in finals

What a bloody team the 2017 Richmond football club premiership team is.

Great post.

I went to training on thursday. Funnily enough, looking at these same players they looked invincible.

Looking at that side on paper, it's not flash. But the willing to play as team , to tackle and chase like hungry hyenas
Brought us a premiership.
All of them, to me are they're stars. Including mark lee Grigg

There is no secret, that mindfulness training and a more positive game plan were the keys to giving the players belief...belief in their ability to keep working right to the end of the game. In previous years many players had no trust or belief in the game plan or their own abilities to play a winning brand of footy so if they got a good lead they would go back into their shells and lose. North knew that, especially Harvey who used to love playing us 'cos he knew we were weak-minded so it must have hurt for him to see us become premiers!! Be great to know his thoughts...

The only one I’d question cc is the rance comment. He’s been a gun for a long time now. But it is an amazing feat when you put it that way.

I hear ya MDJ , was just finding the negatives an how far some of these Premiership players have come. I think I’m right saying as far into his career as his 4th year Rance was still struggling, don’t think his biggest fan could have predicted the turn around, not unlike the entire team this time last year.

It wasn't that long ago our defence was the leagues laughing stock.

Do some forget the Rance and McGuane Benny Hillesque defence?

What a turnaround for Rance, from one of the worst defenders to the best.
