Richmond 2017 AFL Premiers

This one of the most psychologically analytical pieces I have read (and I have read everything in the 2 weeks!) http://www.theroar.com.au/2017/10/10/destruction-tour-tigers-eviscerated-rest-afl-everything-thought-knew

Brilliant sports article. Probably the best I've ever read, or very close. I have read some great ones.

Noticed how this passage from Jay Croucher's article echoes the same term Hardwick used in one of his presser's quite early in the season (and was criticised for): - "Every game was an arm-wrestle that they always held a slight but undeniable advantage in, slowly wearing the opponent down. And then, after the opponent’s will was broken, the body quickly gave way."

Met a couple of Crow 'supporters in a Singapore bar yesterday. Boy was it good to razz these poor losers. They still reckoned we were lucky and wouldn't admit that they were taken apart by a better team on the day

Its strange isn't it?. If they'd missed a heap of set shots, got a horrendous run off the umps and lost in a close one, they'd have a point. But it was a demolition. They never looked like it at any stage. We owned 'em.

I think I met the same ones. I found agreeing with them and just saying "yep, we were lucky" manages to confuse and hurt them even more than rubbing it in.

To their supporters defence they were lead to believe that by playing Richmond the premiership was there. I have seen the same behaviour with Cats supporters.

That said, crows supporters should have had an inkling of what was coming after what we had done in the preceding five games.

they had an inkling, players, coaches, supporters, just couldn't admit it. Said it elsewhere, all the messages out of the crows in the lead up seemed tense and defensive. All the convos I had with crows supporters same thing, just had to mention the D word and they got the fear.

And two were pity goals in the last. 50 and dodgy free.

I really like how it implies 'good luck to other teams copying this game style because it won't be that easy'. The club has finally learnt that true trust and unity can't be faked. Other clubs will try to fake it next year

Im really looking forward to the rash of club captains exposing their imperfections.

Obviously, Jobe and Duck were trailblazers in this regard, but the sky's the limit if it becomes an imperfect arms race to the flag.

:hihi

Being back from holidays, have finally got to watch the replay of the GF over the past few days, a quarter at a time each evening. I was at the game sitting well back on Level Q in the Olympic Stand. It was hard to hear how intense the crowd noise was from down below, due to our own yelling. But watching it on the TV, gee wizz, some of the goals particularly to the Punt Rd End made a hell of a noise.

The Houli running goal during the first. The Lambert and Castagna snaps in the third certainly come to mind too. Enormous roar on the TV coverage.

And then kicking to the the city end, the Graham running goal during the second, you hear this enormous roar, but on screen all you can see are Adelaide supporters sitting motionless. Those who got ticket allocations to the few Richmond bays at that end certainly brang it! Credit to you guys/girls :clap. The Prestia and Martin snaps in the last to that end also highlights for significant noise reverberating from that end.

Still walking tall! Did I mention how much pleasure the simple act of sticking the PREMIERSHIP stickers on the ute gave me? Everytime I see it it makes me happy. Ordered the blu ray and the DVD VICTORY pack, jonesing bad to see the game again.

Where'd you get the sticker from?

There are 2 different choices via the RFC Superstore, like Tigesnake were equally chuffed affixing my 1st ever RFC Premiership bumper sticker to my car.

same. Ive been envious of utes with hawks, cats, swans premiership stickers for years.

I stuck my premiership sticker on the ute below the 2017 member sticker, and now I pretty much dont have to envy anything of anyone.

My ute feels like a Lamborghini.

I was a bit the same PT. I was yelling so hard, I couldnt hear the noise. watched the replay last night and got goose bumps and tears at the volume of the roar.

I reckon the players all wanted to kick a goal to get that ROAR.

I suspect it was once in a lifetime sporting moment. There will be other flags, as soon as next year, but I dont expect the experience of that one to happen again in my life.

I also suspect I'll recall it, as I lay dying. ;D

Wasn't St Nick allegedly exposed too? Cannot comment on the degree of perfection or otherwise.
