Different matches, the one you are thinking about was when Daffy was on fire and we kicked the first 6 or 7 goals. The Lounder debut match was at the MCG and we got flogged, I recall Lounder getting faint praise at the time but I was unimpressed even with his 4 goal haul. He hardly moved that day, just plucked a few lucky grabs and slotted goals from 10 metres out. I think he touched the ball 4 or 5 times for the whole match so the goals scored is particularly flattering.

No i was right....round 5 1989. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/games/1989/121419890430.html.

Fair call, seems my memory is like that of a fish :spin Looking at the list just reminded me of the days Phil Egan was playing at full forward, I don't think it was that game but maybe in 1988, I think it was the first time we won 3 in a row for 3 or 4 years. Just goes to show how lean times were after 1982.

Phil Egan at FF was one of Sproule's experiments in 1985.

He did have a good run at FF in late 1988 as bullus hit said. he kicked 7 against Melbourne and North in consecutive weeks

Geez no wonder we sucked. No one even thought to ask him if he was interested in being a professional athlete or not or if he preferred to get on the beers.

In fairness to the club, the draft was a pretty new concept to VFL/AFL back then and all clubs, not just ours, were still figuring it out. I think it took until the 2000’s for clubs to really get a handle on it.

Flounder!

I remember going to his first game when he kicked 4.

Huge lad but slow as treacle.
