Nason i agree on goes in hard with that slight frame, has a bit of chance bateman about him but i still think nason needs another preseason or 2 to whack more size on....I like the way he covers the ground works hard and his skills are damn impressive...

Good call, they do play similar games. But, as you note, Bateman has the size to back that game up, Nason is too small. At 22, let's hope he's hasn't missed the bulk up boat.

I think it's time we drop the Brad Miller experiment, it's starting to become really embarrassing - even in these praccy games.

He won't be playing until he is upgraded from a rookie so please spare me the whining about him playing.

I'm under the impression he is there to give guidance and if that is what he's been doing with Vickery while standing in the forward line with him then it may be working with what Vickery has shown in the pre-season.

Look forward to Vickery crediting Miller with his improved form some time soon

He's put on 6kgs since being drafted!

It seems a good size is a players height minus 100. most good size players are within 2 or 3 kgs of this

Ben Nason Height: 179cm Weight: 79kg

Chance Bateman Height: 175cm Weight: 75kg

All signs point to yes that he will be upgraded and played which will be an absolute joke and as someone said previously it will put the first big red mark against Hardwick as a coach.

If Vickery needs someone like Miller out on the field in an AFL game telling him where to go and what to do then boy oh boy do we have issues. Spare yourself from the whining too, I'm simply making a blindingly obvious statement, did we not learn from the Kingsley balls up?

I'd put my money on young Zac Smith from the Gold Coast mate.

The rationale behind Miller is completely different to the rationale behind Kingsley. I'm not going to bother explaining it, it's been done to death already and if you can't see it by now, you never will.

Putting aside his age, his name and all the angst associated with him, answer me this. If he is the best performed of the rookie listed players (which, for the record, he is), does he deserve a promotion?

And the comment that his promotion and subsequent senior games would be the first black mark against Hardwick is quite simply rubbish. Hardwick won't promote him lightly, just to justify his selection. He will promote him because he believes Miller is the best option at that point in time. And, let's face it, there are not a lot of guys that could hold him out on demonstrated form. Post, Griffiths, Gourdis, Taylor have all been nominated, and all have shown little this year.

Don't you think having Miller running around in their position might inspire them to push him out, his coaching impact aside?

Tomorrow will be interesting because it will demonstrate if Miller can work in a forward line alongside our likely Round 1 FF/CHF combo in Riewoldt and Vickery. If it works, I suspect Miller will indeed play a few games. If he doesn't, he probably won't.

No he's not, in fact none of the rookies have performed particularly well over the pre season and in the practice matches although we all know that Pat Contin has impressed the playing group and coaches and will be promoted. I would genuinely like to know what he has done in your opinion to make him the best performed of the rookie players?

No not at all but unfortunately we wasted our Rookie picks on players like Miller and Hislop when we should've gone after a younger yet physically more developed junior.

Post has been injured and will be playing tomorrow, Posty is light years ahead of Miller. Griff will be back in the seniors by Round 6 and Taylor has shown a hell of a lot more than Miller in getting to contests and presenting as a target who can apply some forward pressure - unfortunately he is still undersized at this point in time.

He could kick a bag tomorrow and I could care less, he's taken a position and opportunity away from Gourdis or Westhoff to show something for example. I didn't want to make this thread about Miller as I know a million others have already discussed this over the last few months but seeing how many opportunities he's getting is a concern IMO, he's slow, can't get off the ground and does not provide a good enough contest for someone of his 'experience' or build. I would say he's a lock for a promotion to the senior list and a round 1 debut - I hope I'm wrong though.

This is awesome. Am not at work today & live just round the cnr from Visy park, for some reason I thought all along that this game was in Adelaide...

would happily do so but live in an apartment ;D

Being Friday afternoon would imagine there'll be plenty of parking on the east side of the ground along the park

I'm heading in today to watch the game. Looking forward to seeing how we line up as it would be very close to our Round 1 line up.

On the Kingsley thing, Was speaking to someone who was related through his wife/girlfriend at the time and they were clear that he did not want to play for the tiges, may explain a little when looking at the failure of that experiment. On Miller, personally I don't see the point in recruiting him either, but if he has contributed to the rise of VIC then perhaps enough said.

I'll be making my way down today, beautiful day forcasted as well. Wonder how Ambling will go at his new club >:D ;D

I have been graciously given the afternoon off after i pleaded my case as to the importance of an event i must attend. lol Anyone want to meet up at the game and have a chat. pm me.
