Re: Tiges & Crows Teams

Jack back and Post in, hopefully they play Jack, T-Vick and Post in the forward line with T-Vick and Post relieving Graham in the ruck at stages

Not sure why Miller is in though?

I like the idea. If Miller does better than Post in the pre-season, I'd play him - and ask Post to do the job at Coburg...

Re: Tiges & Crows Teams

Miller is a rookie isnt he ? He cant play round 1 unless someone is put on the long term injury list!

We don't have any veterans. We can elevate two rookies from round 1.

No just no. Miller can play for injuries.

Good squad.... would like them to go with a side that has round one in mind. Perhaps:

Jake Batchelor Luke McGuane Alex Rance

Chris Newman David Astbury Brett Deledio

Reece Conca Dustin Martin Daniel Connors

Bachar Houli Jack Riewoldt Shane Edwards

Robin Nahas Tyrone Vickery Mitch Morton

R: Angus Graham, Trent Cotchin, Daniel Jackson

I: Nathan Foley, Shaun Grigg, Jayden Post
Like the look of that team.

Take Houli and McGoofy out and it'd look a hell of a lot better.

Lets see how Houli goes before we start nailing him to the cross.

McGuane is just warming the full back spot for Grimes.

Houli is soft imo runs wide one way and ive never rated him.

Gonna take big change in his game for me to change my mind on him.

Id take Nason over Houli, kids a workhorse and runs both ways, shows more ticker too ie the hits hes taken imo.

But thats me.

Seen him enough i dont need 50 games to form an opinion of a player. Its the way i see things maybe i am different.

I may be shown to be completely wrong, but i wouldnt have an opinion of the bloke if i hadnt seen him play.

IMO quality footballers can be sighted by the little things, composure suredness of hand and vision in traffic (the player that has time with the footy in hand), which aids execution, anyone with a decent hoof can kick goals on the run from 50 when spoon fed the aggot, thats not what quantifies a good player for mine its the little things mate, the shimmy the sidestep, execution, the finish, the ability to shrug pressure.

It aint just me theres a few others on here that dont get excited by him much either imo hes a bit soft and doesnt win his own footy enough for mine.

Maybe its just the fact im not much of a fan of blokes that run wide.

But once again its just my opinion

I'm not a fan either craig - going to ground is the weak players way out of the contest and seen him do it both at Essendon and now against the dawks. Tipping he will not last long if he doesn't put his head over it.

I only asked because I've really never paid any attention to him. The thing is though his stats suggest some of the games he's played were very good in areas that no soft player could perform at that level. His disposal stats also suggest his composure and suredness in traffic must have been very good in quite a few games.

He might be soft... but he was brought to the club for his link play and polish. One thing we actually do have in this team is guys who can win their own ball (finally) - Cotchin, martin, Jackson, Foley, Deledio, Grigg, Tuck, Connors - they all can do it. We now need guys who can get into space and use the ball going fwd - Houli has this ability. I wont shoot him down till i see him in the real stuff.

Agree 8,
Horses for courses.
:clap

Problem with players that need to be spoon fed the footy is they become passengers real fast when the midfield aint getting it to them.

Guys like Grigg, Foley and Connors win their own footy yet also get out wide and link up even Edwards does it in fact Edwards is quite good in close with the footy he has good hands the kid just butchers it by foot too often. Conca in his footage shows the same willingness.

Just not a fan

In one game as a 20 year old Houli won his own ball 17 times against Ablett, Bartel, Selwood and co. Only 2 Tigers have done that against anyone in the last 5 years.

Statistically he butchers it far less than anyone in our team and kicks it to advantage about as often as Deledio.

Gonna take a lot more than you tossing a coupla stats at me to make me change my mind Disco.

The kids has a hoof on him, never questioned his footskills he can certainly kick, unlike a few of his new team mates, i just am not a fan mate.

Tivvas, Fiora and McMahon were feted in the same way as Houli, re link up and kicking and i wasnt a fan of them either.

Like ive said for now im not a fan...............if he plays consistently tougher stronger footy then ive seen then i may change my mind.
