Rich V Melb - Saturday, March 4, 4.10pm AEDT, Casey Fields

The stats suggest the only difference between these two teams today has been free kicks and efficiency inside 50.

Not overly worried about this result.

Round 1 will obviously provide a much clearer picture of where we are at.

I reckon Cumberland won't be best 22 this year.
Need MRJ and Cumbo in the side to provide forward defensive pressure that was non existent from both today but it was only a praccy game
Cumbo & MJR should be in our starting 22

Free kicks to forwards will look more like basketball fouls early this year then they'll forget about it.
Todays highlights.
Taranto again showing he will be a major asset.
Bakes good.
Ryan's busy Q. Looks closer than previously thought.
Green. Some interesting late touches. Looks high IQ.
Thank christ Dion not serious.

The only problem with that is Cumbo doesn't add that much pressure, he plays more like a medium forward rather than a small. If he added more pressure, then its a no brainer, but lack or pressure and ball use like he had today will have him playing in the VFL sooner rather than later.

Thank heavens premierships are not won in March.

We will improve and by August being talked about as a contender.

*smile* the stats. They bent us over.
We couldn't hit a target going inside foward 50. We couldn't keep the ball inside our 50.
The Cotchin experiment as a forward won't work.
They nearly scored every time they forward coming out from our forward line.
They looked good, we were very ordinary.

Know it was only a practice match, but reckon the Blues will be laughing their silly heads off after that effort by the Tigers.
Be honest here guys and dolls.
Melbourne were a class above us and had loose players all over the ground, plus their running, marking, was superb.
Round 1 will tell us if we are contenders this year or just another team.
On that effort I think we have been over rated. Hoping I am wrong here, but that is how I saw the game today.

Agree on Cotchin
shouldn’t be played forward should be coming on and off the bench

Too many holes.
Huge issues for Hardwick and co to sort out.
Its ok to keep the older players but you need to have kids coming through.
Dow, showed something today.
Sampson the same.
I reckon this year we can get a good gauge early on if we will challenge or fall away.

I did not see the game - does anybody know how many goals they got from free kicks inside the 50 and does this having 4 umps bode poor for us

Especially now with 4 on the bench and a sub.
It now falls on Hardwick.
He tried the Balta experiment as a forward last year and that was curtailed by the bye.
Nothing to write home about today.
It wouldve been nice to see a Banks, Brown or Sonsie (injured) play well but like always they aren't ready or just not good enough

They did get some but the result wouldn't have changed.
They slapped us. We looked disinterested.

I would be interested to know the comparison of klm's travelled by both teams Melbourne appeared to me to spread and run harder.
the old small brigade of forwards from 2017 would have kept the ball inside our 50 better than what I saw today

At the ground it was so obvious that Melbourne out ran us. On the overlap both ways they zipped by us. We looked slow and lacking burst across all lines.

Transition running was deplorable. By almost everyone. From the stands it looked three blokes ran hard most of the day both ways Taranto, Baker & Short. Terrible runners both way Bolton, Hopper and Cotchin.

We had zero points from intercept marks. Really worrying that was little semblance to a Richmond game style today. It’s only a practice match however we have a lot to work on.

Can you tell Zips it was a practice match, thinks it was a QF.
We are copping goals way to easily. Final or Practice match nothing has changed..
We played like *smile*.
It wouldn't be a game you could take anything from.
Instead of Hardwick touring Disneyland with Griffens he couldve worked on how we stop teams kick easy goals

Some saying Hopper was quiet…. 9 clearances, the equal highest to Oliver . 23 disposals and will only get better! Baker and Taranto elite! I’m tipping that the pressure will be released round 1 ! Bring it on!!
