Rich V Carl - Match Day Thread

Gibcus will obviously play back allowing Balta to go forward.
KMac is the interesting one as is the only established player that has been left out but not injured.
I thought he played quite well in pre-season games.
Hugo the likely sub.

Kamdyn McIntosh (calf)

"Kamdyn played against Hawthorn in the game down in Tassie and pulled up with a sore calf, and it's taken a little bit longer to recover than we would have anticipated from the game. So, he's going to be unavailable this week. If the game had been a couple of days later on the weekend, he probably would have been available, but like with most soft tissue injuries, we'd prefer to take the week to make sure he's absolutely right for Round 2."

With the problems we have on the injury front I didn't see this team selection coming so well pleased to see such a strong team out on park and note that e still have able replacements on the fringe. More confident in a win on Thursday now

Good side although I'm still; not keen on Ross on a Wing I'd rather have Hugo's run and carry.
I have to admit I though Ralphsmith was a cert to play Round 1 but in the preseason practice matches Ross certainly put himself and and his two way running seems an improvement from last season. Can't wait to ball up tomorrow

Balta back to the backline.
What a tease that was

Don't take anything our of where players are named on team sheets DT. Hasn't mattered for 20 years.

He'll play forward. Amazed if he didn't. He'll likely get McGovern and could have a field day.

I think Soldo starts on the bench, Balta up forward and Gibcus as the 7th defender. Guessing he'll play the interceptor role.
I had a brief look at players 190cms and over, we have 9 and blues 11

Dow ,Hugo, RCD better options then Aarts why we persistent just to fit him in even if not performing.

Would have liked Miller have first crack in defence.

Geeze I hope we do it a bit more comfortably than 9 points
Agree, but I'll be happy with the four points, whatever the margin.
It's game one in a long season.
There is still much water to traverse under the bridge until Richmond is crowned premiers.

That's a tallish looking team.

pretty much all teams go with 3 forwards now in an attempt to nullify the defending intercept marker that every team seems to have nowadays. If that doesn’t work for us, I can see us using Caddy for that Towner-type defensive forward role as the season progresses.

Balta back to the backline.

i think it'll be relatively tight.

It could be. Their midfield is very good and they will rebound well if we don't lock the ball in our F50. I do look at our F50 and the talls and I'm licking my lips, Weitering will clearly go to Lynch and it might not be a great night for him, but McDonald and McGovern on Jack and Noah, yes please.

I look down the other end and if we can control McKay then we will be fine. I'm not sure on Curnow yet, is he fully fit, didn't exactly light the practise game up and was missing from Aami.

Match them in the midfield and I think we win by around 3-4 goals.

you'd think so, but then who is our 7th defender coming off the bench?

Unless (referring to Graham):
Reckon he might be a late out for Ralphsmith.
but:
We are not renowned for doing that.

i guess we will find out in about 9 hours.

Our backline yet to gel

Midfield looking thin

Forward six with reduced trapping capacity

This will be a test of our new system.

We will also know whether our hunger and desire has returned.
