Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Reece spoke before game yesterday, still 5 weeks away. I would say we can forget him having any contribution to our finals campaign? Just hope he fully recovers from his lisfranc injury, (an injury which has ended a few careers).
That's the problem with Concs, we are always hoping his body holds up. For the brightsiders "Hope springs Eternal" for Darksiders "Dud delist". I'm in the former by the way.

I'm in the latter. But he's contract for 2018 I think so we are stuck with him for another season.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

When we were walking into the ground yesterday with the family, we spotted Reece and Bachar at a promotional tent. I asked if my daughter and her friend could have a photo with Bachar and then Reece and they were both fantastic. Had a good chat to Reece and he said he did the injury when his foot got stuck under Rory Sloane's foot in a tackle. The surgery went well and he has been running for several weeks. He will have a few VFL games soon and still hopes to make it back to the AFL team late in the year. It would take everything to go right for him, but he has a great attitude so I wish him well. The more options we have the better. We have chatted to Reece a few times and he always has time to have a chat - a great guy.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

I was a massive conca hater. But what I saw from him early in the year, he is someone we really need up and firing in September.
His game against Melbourne should be what we expect from him every week

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Agree Zips. Some of his early season games were very good. I said to him that the backline seemed to suit his style - straight ahead.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Reece has obviously had a retched run with injury but he could always play. Haters gotta hate someone though.

Only 5 games to go? Maybe if we go deep into finals bt hard to see him getting back this year if he's not ready for VFL yet and plans on playing a few VFL games first.

I think that's the hard part TL. He will be racing the clock to get back to play VFL and find some touch. His attitude says he will give it a huge crack regardless.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Once was enough with Lazarus rising from the dead. Can just see In & Outs first finals game

In Conca Griff Morris Hunt Lennon Batch

Get with the program

It would be hard to come straight back into the heat of a final, circa 2015 v Nth. That would be setting him up for a fall.

He was in our top 5 players this season when he went down with his injury, if he can get back to that level he will be an asset in Sept.

If we go deep in September that will mean that our team won't be improved by bringing a bloke back after 4 months on the sidelines. (Only big 4 and Nank would be automatic inclusions in September after that long out)
A fit fresh Conca may improve us next year but I will stick to a winning team come September. Only proviso is if new injuries or suspensions hit us.
Need him back round 22 no later or he is insurance only and once again a "new " recruit in 2018.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Hoping to play in the VFL in two weeks. Then it's just a matter of if he can find enough form and if there is a place in the senior team. Big ask, but he will have a crack.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Haha, not at all. Reece and Griff back for the first final should be a prioirity :cutelaugh

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Nit sure who he pushes out but a fully fit conca is in our best 22. Would be a massive bonus if he can make it.

Bringing Conca back in for a final: that can't go wrong, could it?

Surely we wouldn't be that dumb again. 2018 preparation, help the VFL win the flag, dominate the VFL finals.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

if his injury was anything but his leg/foot you would think that he would have some type of miles from running under his belt. He would have needed a mini pre season starting a week or so back. Was very good until he got injured, go again in 2018.

Re: Reece "Alfa Romeo" Conca

Not sure if he'll make back in the 22 but it would be good to have him fit and ready in case of injuries. Couldn't hurt to have some depth.
