Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

I must have watched a different game...

He is at absolute best an average footballer. The problem is he is not at his absolute best very often. Still Dimma loves him so I can look forward to him kicking 8 meter passes to teammates under pressure all season. Terrific.

They have been coached that way for years. He kicks ok longer. Give him 6 weeks and watch him improve again, to a good footballer

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

His kicking is suspect, his handballs usually high looping and ineffective, his decision making is horrible - CANNOT for the life of me see any positives with him......terrible terrible draft pick. Unbelievable really IMHO.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

Thought he was pretty good yesterday. He has missed so much football it's hard to judge him. Give him a decent run at it.

For a high first round pick though he is nowhere near the mark.

Very fair. Has earned his round 1 position.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

Gets judged too harshly because of those who got picked after him. That's not his fault, that's Frank's.

Time to judge what's on the park, not what's in your heads.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

Anyone who has my heart sinking no matter where or when he gets the ball has me concerned. He should be able to make better decisions at his age. If he would just focus on the basics without trying to pull off the impossible kicks would really help him. Creates his own problems.

I heard your Beefheart stopped in 2010.

Turnover merchant, panics, dinky kicks, goes to ground too often. That’s what’s on the park most of the time.

But was ok yesterday.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

New season Scoop. Let's give him a chance to get some continuity and see what we end up with.

If he gets injured in 6 weeks though, call out the stewards and put up the metaphorical curtain.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

He's done a whole preseason and 3 practice matches.

No excuses about continuity now.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

Short dinky passes are a symptom of a lack of work rate from the whole team. If there's enough movement upfield, there's less need for the short passes, more options open up creating more uncontested marks and overall the speed of ball movement improves. You might call hit downhill skiing, but fast ball movement, is what players like Conca and Ellis need to compensate for skill errors. They remind me a bit of old Jacko - he was best when we were moving the ball quickly and more options were created by good upfield movement.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

At best he is a good ordinary player. Normally he is not a good ordinary player

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

I've watched/reviewed the game a few times (had to turn down the sound as Gerard Healy's over the top hand wringing was driving me nuts) and I only recall seeing a solitary shank from Reece, which was a left foot dribbler near our forward 50, where he tried to squeeze/pinpoint an improbable pass rather than just banging it forward.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

I think I read he went at 83% disposal efficiency yesterday, doesn't always give a true indication but does mean he hit most targets.

While blind stats n numbers aren't by any means the be all n end all of the conversation. When I looked in the Hun this morning n had a look at the numbers attributed to the players,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Reecey the Concareter topped the tables, way out in front of the efforts of his team mates.

Not that shabby from a bloke who can barely string a few games together each year due to chronic hamstring injuries.

You don't belong here.

Re: Reece "Precision" Conca

The final pass to Jack on his JLT3 highlights reel is ... centimetre perfect. Needs to look up and beyond, not for the nearest 'escape' chip.

Yes, I think your astute post #1369 on the THunt thread applies here just as much.
