Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Are we killing Conca by playing him down back on our opponents small forwards, he looks lost and unfamiliar with position. Maybe in the middle or half back until he gains confidence

Yep, time to move him.

Conca just needs game time, anywhere will do.

Agreed.

Safe to say he got pantsed tonight, but would have learnt a lot from playing on the best small forward of the past ten years. Worth about 25 games I reckon. I also think Dimma moved him at the right time.

BTW geez I hate Milne, the bump he put on Reece after the 2nd qtr siren was lower than what McGuane did.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Geez, Billy the conquerer's pick up at full pace on the half volley in the centre square in the last and then cm perfect pass to tiger advantage was good enough for me. def not a back pocket, a winger or a HBF.

Agree.

Very good experience for him to be gained throughout that game.

No harm in what his doing, no doubt going to be a very good mid

Yeah, got flogged by the best small forward of the last 20 years. Big deal.

Conca is filling a massive gap in the side and is learning the game the hard way. In a perfect world would be pushing through back flank, wing , half forward but is learning the game by playing on good footballers. Improving his one on one game but as Corn Chips puts it, he is going to be a very good mid.

Attack on the ball is first rate.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

It's not as though anyone else in the team has ever played well on Milne.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Was happy that Cons got the exposure of playing on Milne...was well beaten but would learn a lot...

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Wasn't concerned about him playing on Swap and Go tonight, but did anyone else think his body language was poor?

I'm happy he looked upset at being beaten, but I thought watching the telecast he might break into tears at one stage.

Cleo's most eligible looked like a better match up for me.

Anyway isn't it fantastic that they can both kick the ball?

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Milne was dominant, but that shouldn't be a reflection of Conca's ability as a player.
Attacks the ball well and finds open paths across half back.
If all remains well, we have a gem in black & yellow.

Gotta remember it was probably the first time in his life he was getting an absolute pasting on a footy field. Must be tough when it happens in front of 40 odd thousand in the stands and a million or two viewers on TV. He's a kid.. he'll learn. Pretty obvious it was going to happen though, not sure about the coaching strategy. Maybe they just felt we had no one who could do the job so might as well turn it into a learning experience and put Conca on him.

Dimma said in his presser that it was all about learning, nothing more nothing less.

nothing wrong with his body language. he is just super competitive and was probably feeling sick after he was working he butt off and knew he couldn't do too much to stop him. got a good look at what it will take to play at that level.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Milne beat second game player Conca soundly but it will be the last time that Milne dominates in a game against the Tigers.

Reece kept going hard at it and looks like being a super Tiger in a short time frame. :)

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I liked the fact that Conca got a major dose of Milne tonight. Slippery little bastard that he is. Also liked that Batchelor got a little taste of the Milne action as well.
All good for mine. The goal side roving goal by Milne was probably the only bad mistake. He should watch this game more than once.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Good game on a wiley opponent. Will only learn from it.
As an aside, Goddard should be reported if the league is fair dinkum for the after the siren high bump on the squirrel.
