Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Another quality display bar the kicking. Lids was off tonight too but it was a one off, Conca shanks a few week to week.

Like I said last week - massive fan of his game besides the kicking action/ball drop. Hope he works hard on it next preseason.

Terry Wallet gave him 3 votes for BOG...
Think 3AW did too which surprised me too
Maybe I'm too critical but I never saw it like that and get a distracted by some poor disposal at times
He tackles well

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

His clearance and contested work was first rate; he is a real hard nut. But let himself down with some *smile* kicking. Really needs to work on that. 36% DE is very poor.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Love the concaroo, gets in and under...tough as...I though his first quarter was
quiet then he made his presence felt....yep his disposal can be improved and I'm sure it will. :clap

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

On his DE.
Him, Shane Edwards and Cotch are always doing little grubba kicks out of contested packs that shuffle the ball forward 25m to either another contest, out of bounds or where the opposition's sweeper gets the ball. Unfortunately, these are counted as "ineffective possessions" and as a result their DE numbers always suck.

I wish that Champion Data had a neutral value for these disposals because they are not negative possessions. I understand their disposal efficiency should not increase because a Richmond player does not take possession but it is a bit harsh that their numbers drop on the back of some great contested work that gains meterage.

Wowza 36% efficiency is very poor, I don't remember the last time I've seen it above 55% tbh.

Rounds 1 to 4 he had no les than 68% disposal efficiency in any game. Since he's come back he's been terrible. He's had disposal issues before and has obviouly worked hard on it but has lost the confidence again since he's been back. He's never going to be an elite disposer of the ball unfortunately. Thankfully we've since picked up Ellis and Vlaustin.

Yep.

Kicking efficiency is very unreliable as a guide to the effectiveness of a player, especially those who are winning contested ball and don't have time to measure off a bullet pass every time they get it.

Sssshh TOT, don't say that around here. Those numbers are gospel.

I don't measure him against those sorts of possessions.

It's when he gets it in space he still can butcher it. His ball drop onto the boot is very ugly. That's where he needs to improve.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

While I agree with Juffa and TOT about the unreliability of DE %, Reece does fall off his kicks a lot. I wonder if he has an issue that make him reluctant to kick through the ball. He's a beauty though.

You have nailed it Barnzy. He seems to have a strange ball drop (not as weird as Batch's though!) and falls away when he is kicking. Goal kicking can improve too. Saying that, his other qualities he brings to the tables are fantastic. Will be a 10-year rock-solid player for us.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Although kicking efficiency is frequently misunderstood, I believe it Conca’s case it is showing a valid flaw in his game.

His disposal hasn’t been great since he returned, too many up and under chip kicks and not much penetration. He was lucky he got a second shot a goal on Sunday after he sprayed his first shot.

Footy Show just reported West Coast have offered Reece a 'substantial' offer to leave RFC

Barrot had nothing to say, he was digging for gold. Conca won't leave now

They can give us darling and they can have conca.
Besides there 1st pick, there's not much I want from them.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

West Coast are after him in a big way according to Damian Barrett.
I can't see him going.

He wants to stay but as we know with Vlad poaching players with his magic wand(cheque book) and GWS,a big enough cheque can lure him.
I believe he will stay a Tiger.
The club will reward him in time anyway.

Everyone is hunting our players now we are coming good.

WELCOME TO THE FEAR OF THE TIGER!!!!

Good clubs don't loose good players. ( maybe after winning a flag )
