Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

It may also be related to us having the bye next week. Maybe they want to try and get some games into Conca and not have it interrupted, so that he's fully match fit when he does come back hopefully after the bye.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I think this is a good strategy. Get him 70% of game time at Coburg, let him rest a week then put back in after the bye.

Smart management. Long term management. Good change.

You are right, but gee I would have loved him as the sub this week. Could have given us an impact player off the bench.

If it wasn't Subi, I would agree. Good to see long term thinking for a change.

But I didn't realise how shallow our midfield was until Conca, who is a B grader at this stage went down and all over a sudden we had a huge hole.

Ellis went from sub, to vital required player, to huge loss in about four weeks. It's a pretty good sign we've got talent but no depth.

Well at least the ground at Coburg will be nice and soft - no pressure on his foot.

Ummm. Tuck, Conca, Ellis, Knights even Petterd n Grimey. Don't look now Scooper but thats a big handfull of second string mids n a couple of running backs that make our midfield extremely shallow.
The reason why we had Jakey, Nacho n even Morris together in our midfield against Esserdope last week.

I'll give you Conca, Ellis and Tuck. But the rest aren't mids. And those three should be in your starting rotation of 8 mids. But once we lose those three, there was nothing coming through. We are weak. Ellis was the sub last week and has only played as a mid for three weeks. At the start of the year he was a flanker. ]

Tell we get a solid 10-12 that are capable of playing midfield time every week we are not going to be up to it.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I think it's stupid

If he is fit he should be playing for Richmond , not coburg

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

From the reports in the Coburg thread Conca played well during the game time he was given so hopefully he pulls up well and is in contention for round 11.

Round 12. We've got the bye in Round 11.

It's strange he played for Coburg....he only missed 5 weeks.

Glad he got though the game though.

Tigers are loading up for a red hot go with all our winnable games coming up
Hence the conservative approach with Conca Ellis Grimes & Petterd (but not Tuck)

Richmond is a very hard place to give a player 50-75% game time. You can't rely on the Sub because if you get an injury in the first 5 minutes then they have to play the whole game. Best way to ease him back in was at Coburg

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Criticising Pettard for his peformances at half back is akin to criticising Chaplin for not performing had Hardwick decided to play him at full forward instead.

I hope we're planning to run Petterd through the forwardline after the bye. Something a bit different.

Our fwd line can be robotic at times & Pettard would be just the mid sized leaping fwd we lack

I think A Edwards is in for just that reason. A bit unpredictable and a good kick for goal.

Conca reminds me of Rob Wiley in the way he plays
