Rebuild Time

Recruiting excellent:

Conca, Ellis, Lennon all wasted top 12 picks. That’s why our midfield has no depth.

Martin, Lynch, Prestia, Rance and Riewoldt all on 800k plus while Dangerfield et al take less and deliver twice the output
How many premierships has Dangerfield won?

And you are delusional if you think Dangerfield is on less than $800k.

Good idea. Need to get Brendon Bolton before he is snapped up.

If Caracella didn't come to the club i doubt very much we would have won the cup in 2017.
Hardwick has his moments but that's it.

Hardwick needed help and the club went out and secured it. Pretty sure Caracella's still there.

Wise words. This thread is ludicrous.

Open your eyes and have a peak at the backline. Close to the worse in the comp.
Even carlton have marking defenders

So the best defence of the last two years is now close to the worse. Carry on.

Spot on. Prestia isnt Dangerfields left nut. Cant believe he is on 800k.
800k would get you Parker or Crouch

So many players not up to it on our list. Soldo, Menadue, Markov, Moore, Short, Weller, Ellis, Astbury Thats the biggest concern.
All our money is basically taken up by Martin Prestia Cotchin and Lynch.
No wonder we are forced to keep them on the list.
Terrible list management

One team near full strength against a team decimated by injuries = REBUILD???

This thread is laughable in so many more ways.

You are a terrible judge of talent. You hate Astbury, check out our defence last night. Garthwaite is a trier but will never be great. Balta doesn't look like a defender to me, much prefer him up the ground. Astbury would have had way more of an impact yesterday.

Until we lost the 2018 prelim we had been the best team in the competition. That's not that long ago - what's changed? Our luck with injuries....If you plug Rance, Reiwoldt, Nank etc back into this team and add Lynch, Stack, Balta, Ross (when he is fit again), Baker etc......We have an excellent list .Can't believe the negativity. Sure we need more coverage for tall defenders and rucks...but even so, we still have a very good list.

Post of the day for me. This is 10000000 % bang on the money. Will be very interesting once we lose Caracella to a senior job at some point.

Any team that has copped the number of injuries to senior players as the Tiges have would be suffering as well. For instance if Geelong had lost Dangerfield Round 1,hawkins,round 2 ablett round 3, blicavs,4 and others from then on I suggest that top would not be their position today.

Teams HAVE,including us,have come back from this and won the flag.

Geez what is it with people ready to throw in the towel.
FFS always seems it's the same punters having Debbie Downer moments.
Take your meds and chill.
Or get on the bong and smoke it up, you're too wound up.

Move Hardwick on, trade Dusty to Sydney, give the job to Fly and start again.

The hippy culture and lack of Plan B has been exposed and there won’t be a recovery this year

Your not the full can man.

Trade Dusty to Sydney? Odd, 2 games ago you were saying about him:

Making the finals alone will exceed my expectations. Am of the opinion to not risk Rance, Riewoldt, Pickett, etc and any other players long term welfare for this year when its expected next will be a more successful year?

I don't think we should ever risk a player's long term welfare.

But in that, I mean if Jack is ready to go in however many weeks this year, we play him. Same with Pickett. It all depends on the time frame and what the doctors say about perceived risks.

With Rance though, well I'm not a doctor, but my initial reaction is that I'm likely to have a concern about him playing this year, just going on all we've seen to date about recovery times for an ACL, plus what you'd expect from him anyway, given how long he will have been out of the game.

Do or should the Tigers now start to develop a stronger focus to 2020.

Finals participation isn't out of the question, but I'm not sure now how deep the team can go in September. It will be a pretty impressive effort in itself playing in this year's finals series given the injuries sustained and the number of young/new/debutants that have been asked to take on roles perhaps some aren't quite yet ready for (or possibly some are not up to scratch).

I'm not suggesting RFC discard this season, but maybe it is an opportunity to start thinking and planning for a huge tilt at premiership glory next season.

The top 8 is composed of two teams who can beat us on the MCG (with half our team out)
They are Geelong and Collingwood.

The rest of the 8 can’t beat us on the MCG.

I reckon we are better off finishing finishing 5th or 6th.

Have you ever heard Caravelle talk? Has anyone?
