I gave it a 7 and JimBob summed it up perfectly for me.

We cant get complacent now and need to keep turning over the list to add to our depth and provide some support to Cotchin and Martin as our premium midfielders.

I gave it a 6 based on a realistic expectation from the start.
Remove realistic expectations and I'd give it a 4 or less as we're not playing finals.

I give a GOOD pass rate on the year 6/10.....as things are today.
If they back it up and move the remaining 8-12 dead wood players, gain a suitable key back & ruck through trade period, improve our draft position somehow, draft as expected from FJ.....
I will upgrade to a VERY GOOD 8/10 year.

6 for me.

The losses to Port and Goldilocks were Inexcusable. It's rubbish that if we hadn't sold the game we would have won. the fact is, we should have won no matter where they were played, end of story. the massive form slump that followed was really disappointing but somewhat understandable given how immature our list is.

positives where Vickery and Rance being the big improver's, Deledio, Martin and Cotchin having another good year and great first years from Conca and Bachelor

hopefully next year, Astbury will return to show the promise from his first year and Grimes the same from this year. I think the following backline looks really promising and may allow us to release Lids up the ground.

Grimes, Rance, Bachelor
Newman, Astbury/Post , Houli

The season overall was 7/10... At the start of the year I thought 8-9 wins would be a good year.
The backline: 4/10..... Rance great development. Houli and Batchelor seem great pick ups... But besides that, due to injuries etc, the backline didnt develop as much as I would have hoped. Positive is Astbury still super young and could be our chb.
Midfield: 7/10.... With the likes of Cotchin, Martin, Delidio and other young players like Conca to develop further it looks bright. But this year, once again, our depth needs to improve. Jackson had a shocker after a solid 2010 season. Same with edwards. He didn't improve further. Tuck did his job but he is a jobber. With jackson falling away badly, we need a big bodied inside midfielder who will be a good clearance player. With development from Conca, we have an outside midfielder we need. Overall, more depth needed.
Forward line: 8.5/10.... Great overall development. Vickery a real surprise in the level of development. Riewoldt has become more rounded player now. Nahas... I thought he was gone but is a handy goal kicking hf. What we need now is a clever small crumming player. King gives some needed intensity at the contest but we need a class small forward. rapped with the spread of goalkickers. With more improvement from Vickery in coming years and hopefully Griffiths the tall forward department is great. Miller did his role for the year. Leadership and a presence at every contest.... crashing the packs
Rucks: 0.5/10.... Only positive is that we got some more games into Graham and Browne but nothing to be excited. We all know what is needed now. The injury to Dericx was a shame. He may have gave us some real excitement.

4/10 Didn't win enough games with a couple of embarassing losses. Inability to halt team runs on match day.

Farmer is an embarassment, Miller playing is/was pointless. Jackson got worse as the year progressed.
Good comments but a bit harsh in the mark.5/10 but the club has a long way to go.

Not really. Conca had an ok year but I put others ahead of him. Had a good start but the back half of the season wasn't great for him.
Plenty to build on.

7!? Flowersniffer.

I think we are going to look back on the last 2 years as successful ones . We have gone from being an embarassment to 8.5 wins and pushing the 8 at times . We have uncovered potential superstars in Martin and Vickery . Cotchin and Reiwoldt are becoming the players we hoped they would be . Deledio and Newman remain very very good AFL players , Lids especially is a very consistent high class AFL player . We have seen the emergence of Rance , Houli and Nahas as very good players and the unveiling of the next generation in Batchelor, Conca and Grimes .
The next step requires 4 things .
1. Consistency of performance and perfection of the modern day press
2. The emergence of the next wave of KPP , Griffiths and Astbury in particular
3. More midfield depth , we need to draft another gun mid at least .
4. A quality ruck division .

These things may not come next year but my personal view is that I will be surprised if we are not at least pressing for a finals berth next season deeper into the season as long as we have a decent injury run.
Off field the club is doing much better as well . We have a high class CEO , a Tiger man totally committed to the cause who is making sure the foundations are laid in the right way this time around . I think we have a great young coach , still learning on the job but doing pretty well.
Finally we have the best supporters in the AFL . Even though we lost yesterday the support for the club and the players was fantastic.
Because we lost a few winnable games and because a few players have disappointed I would give it 7/10 but if someone had told me we would be where we are now in March 2010 I would have taken it for sure .

I marked us at a 5/10.
We got a pass mark but not much more.

I liked:
1. Improvement from Rance, Vickery, Nahas, Cotchin, Grimes, Martin and King
2. The recruitment of Bachar Houli
3. The debuts of Conca, Batchelor and Helbig
4. The fans passion
5. Improving our win/loss ratio and ladder position
6. Playing a geniunely young team for most of the year

I disliked:
1. Not having a consitently competitive ruckman who could do better than break even - poor list management
2. Being outcoached tactically, e.g. North yesterday
3. Troy Taylor leaving
4. Losing to the bottom teams on road trips
5. Seeing certain players getting too many games - McGuane, Farmer, Morton and Graham
6. Not seeing Tuck played more

4 is the mark i gave...too many spuds getting game time and we
all know who they are...

can i have my $1000 back for Gus...deplorable...

as for Farmer oh dear...who made that decision but more importantly
should they be in a position to make such decisions....

im fearful of this club surviving..

Same.

+ Got games into young players. At an age/experience disadvantage in all but two matches.
+ Showed a different side to Hardwick's coaching. Hopefully we settle on a happy medium of winning contested ball/run & spread.
+ Development of Martin & Vickery in particular to the point where they now influence games.
+ Significant improvement of second & third tier players Rance, Nahas, King + the addition of Houli.

- Shocking run of form mid-season which the club seemed powerless to arrest. Four losses in particular were very poor.
- Failure to solve the ruck issue.
- Far too easily scored against at times.
- Stagnation of (relatively) mature players McGuane, Jackson, Morton, Farmer, White, Nason, Gourdis, Grigg (after good start).

A couple of Houli-quality pickups to fill deficiencies could make the difference between us treading water and making the finals in 2012.

Yep that was bad. The Carlton massacre on the TFTF day was the worst for the year without doubt.
Have had few worse days at the football than that. Numbing.
Deserves another half point shaved off purely on that performance which I'd hoped was the kind that was behind us.
