R3 Changes v GWS

In: Balta, Townsend, Houli, Ross
Out: Riewoldt, Weller, Castagna, Markov

If Caddy gets up like they are suggesting, swap him for Ross

For those expecting wholesale changes you can almost forget it. Not in Hardwicks DNA.

Out: Riewoldt, Grimes & maybe 1 more. I would say Weller.

In: Moore, Balta, Ross
makes sense.

I reckon three changes

Out: Jack (tall), Grimes (medium) and Weller (small - dropped)
In: Balta (tall) Garth (medium) and Bolton (small)

Garth will takes Grimes spot, Bolton will play midfield and forward (Wellers spot) and Balta ruck (Jacks role last week) and then either forward or back depending on where he is needed.

I see Nank resting forward as the second tall forward more this week to cover a bit for Jack

I think this gives the team much more flexibility and if they come out and tackle (can’t see two games in a row where we get smashed in the tackles) then we could match it with GWS - we like playing them up there.

Reckon the others (Butler, Markov, George, Ellis and Rioli) all need to lift as that is where our pressure is built and Dimma will personally give each of them a rocket.

Looking forward to Saturday

Balta to replace Jack as 2nd ruck / forward
Garth if fit to replace grimes
Houli to replace Markov
Ross to replace Ellis - need more midfield grunt
Aarts to replace Weller

B. Broad. Astbury. Garth.
HB. Vladtuin. Houli. Short.
C. McIntosh. Martin. Edwards.
HF. Higgins. Rioli. Butler.
F. George. Lynch. Balta.
R. Nankervis. Cotchin. Lambert.
Int. Aarts. Ross. Prestia. Graham.

Decent side. We got very little from our mids last week Dusty Prestia Lambert Graham Edwards Higgins. If they all lift then we can win this.

Hutchings did an awesome job of blanketting Congilio - it went a long way to them beating GWS. We are suseptable to good opposition midfields, I think number one priority should be to keep him quiet. Lambert and Graham should tag team him all day.

We don't tag, Evo.

We need to find a tagger asap IMO.

If we had to invent a lock down tagger I’d try George, if we had more options down back I’d consider Broad in a midfield role

Coniglio & Whitfield are their prime movers - we must look at curbing their influence. Whoever play HFF must be given the job of limiting Whitfield's run. I don't think Ellis has ever shown any ability to tag and he has no physical presence and is a muppet arm tackler. Perhaps KMac can be used in some sort of defensive role on Whitfield? Or George is asked to sacrifice offensive output for close checking on Whitfield.

As per the interview with Burge, Caddy will play this week. Not sure whether it’s AFL or VFL.

Houli will miss another week. Hasn’t progressed as quick as hoped. Confident of a return next week.

Houli's one week hammy wasn't one week after all? I'm shocked!

Doesn’t matter who it is , however there is going to be great opportunities for some of the kids in the next month, unlike others in recent years I hope they take there chance and lock themselves in as best 22

We will discover a lot about the reality of the depth of the Tigers' playing list.
Some challenges being thrown down to the club with a couple of serious injuries, so it will be fascinating to see which on the verge players are willing to have a crack and grab the opportunity presented them. Would love to see a couple of the younger players put their hands up and cement themselves a place in the 22 come season's end.
Great opportunity for Garthwaite, Ross and Moore to show their wares.

Take 2 - In Garthy Balta Caddy Bolton Ross Out Jack (inj) Grimes (susp) Weller (inj?) Markov Ellis

Garthy Astbury Broad
Flossy Balta Short
Kmac Cotchin Shed
Butler Rioli George :p
Bolton* Lynch Caddy

Nank Martin Lambert

Int: Prestia Graham Ross Higgins

* Second ruck ;D

Em Towner Markov Moore Aarts

Let’s treat this game differently

Forget the 4 points.
it’s a game where we ask our kids to show us what they’ve got.

Some will be underdone and some can’t run out a game yet and that might cost us.
But it’s about the investment: the rewards might not be there this week.

Garthwaite Astbury short
Ellis. Balta. Vlastuin
Broad. Mcintosh. Martin
Higgins. Lynch Edwards.
Rioli. Moore Nankervis
Soldo. Cotchin Prestia

I/c Caddy Ross. Butler lambert

Garthwaite (grimes)
Moore (Riewoldt)
Soldo (Weller)
Ross (Markov)
Balta (Castagna)

I think it’s highly unlikely Castagna gets dropped after 1 week. It’s more likely he plays instead of soldo.
but there you go ... that’s the team I want

I WONDER how you can rule out houli almost a week before the game, monday morning test against late saturday game time, surly you would access thursday training.

Houli to me sounds like a "1 week" injury that will take 5 weeks to come good. Pitty, he looked good in the lead up to round 1. but now prone to soft tissue injuries as he gets into his 30s.

Clearly they were lying to us about the extent of his injury. Age doesn't help, 31yo now.
