R3 Changes v GWS

Rance, Houli, Grimes, Reiwoldt out from our starting Round 1 line up. God help us. Could get messy.

Collingwood last year unearthed some good players as a result of a large injury list. Exposed players to senior footy who probably wouldn't have got a look in if the list was healthy.

A great opportunity for some of our younger players. However they need the leaders to show them the way on match day not bludge as many seemed to last Thursday night.

Houli IMO likely will not play this week he has a hamstring injury regardless of the extent and has a history of hamstring injuries,he will likely rest and rehab for another week.

Burge said as much when he said its not coming along as well as hoped.

If Caddy doesn't get up for the seniors this week and Grigg also still on the sidelines along with the above, we'll have over 1000 games of experience missing! As always with adversity comes great opportunity and I'm looking forward to seeing how the group respond.

I can't see Caddy coming in this week and if he does his effectiveness will be limited. Is well short on match fitness and his game style might require a run in the 2s.

That would be why they had no issue with him going to Christchurch. It looked for all intensive purposes like a hammy at the time.

My view the below is probably out Best 22.

Broad Astbury Grimes
Houli Rance Vlastuin
McIntosh Cotchin Lambert
Rioli Lynch Butler
Castagna Riewoldt Caddy
Nank Martin Prestia
Higgins Graham Edwards Short

Not sure where Grigg fits in there but as it stands Rance, Grimes, Houli, Riewolt and Caddy need to come out of that team.

I would go Rance / Garthwaite, Grimes / Ross (swing McIntosh into def, Higgins to the wing and Ross to the midfield rotation), Houli / Bolton (worried about playing Bolton and Short in the back 6/7 but would prefer to Markov or Ellis), Riewoldt / Balta and Caddy / Townsend

So for me:

Out Jack, Grimes, Markov, Ellis, Weller
In Balta, Ross, Gartghwaite, Bolton, Townsend

Word on the radio just now that Greene wil likley miss again but Josh Kelly will be back. Mummy a chance as well.
I still like us in this game. Hope we dont press to hard with underdone players eg: Caddy and maybe Garth.

I reckon we should push caddy.

Hes as like for like as well get for jack

And sometimes you have to take a punt.

Garthwaite finished the VFL game last week with ice on his quads. Must be doubtful.

Caddy will be underdone and Houli also out.

GWS likely to have Kelly, Mumford and Greene in.

Won't be an easy game for us.

No. I dont expect us to win

But if we can tough a win out

It will be season defining.

Green not playing. Mumford not guaranteed. TBH I would prefer Mumford to Dawson Simpson as Nank has had the better of Mumford in the past.

Hmmm if we can't get Garth in then I think we will have to play either Balta back or definitely swing Kmac back. With Astbury tied up with Cameron, we need someone to go with Himmelberg.

We will discover a lot about the reality of the depth of the Tigers' playing list.
Some challenges being thrown down to the club with a couple of serious injuries, so it will be fascinating to see which on the verge players are willing to have a crack and grab the opportunity presented them. Would love to see a couple of the younger players put their hands up and cement themselves a place in the 22 come season's end.
Great opportunity for Garthwaite, Ross and Moore to show their wares.

A win this week was will be our biggest home and away since the One pointer over Swans 2016

Greene out helps as that means we don't need to worry about him and it will free up Broad who would've played on him.

Kelly in sucks arse for us, hopefully he misses one more but they probably gave him the extra week off last week to avoid the trip.

Kelly, Coniglio, Cameron, Williams, Haynes, Taranto, Hopper, Himmelberg, Tomlinson, and Whitfield.

Still alot of quality to deal with there on their own heap.

GWS still unbelievably inconsistent. With those names you listed, they should be winning easily and consistently yet were soundly thumped by West Coast. If GWS could get their consistency and mental toughness going they'd be unbeatable. As it is they're beatable but it's been a long time since we've had so many good players out. 9y 2nd time I heard that both Rance and Reiwoldt have both been out of the team during Hardwick's tenure.

Moore should come in with injuries been good preseason deserves his chance others have got numerous.
