R23 team changes v Brisbane

Thought Short's goal before quarter time was very important ( a ripper too left foot from outside 50)

Absolutely we were just holding on at that stage. He needs to somehow get into positions to do more of this though, it's been sorely missing this year (only 2nd game he's goaled in 11 games this year).

I thought Short mucked in well. He ain’t luke hodge, but his physical work in the packs, particularly in the second half, was solid.

The Short haters forget who the head coach is. Do they really think Hardwick would play Short if he was shirking or substandard defensively?

September beckons. It won’t be wet forever. We need to keep the blokes who can hit long targets from D50, not drop em at the first opportunity.

Houli had a good game but his opponent kicked three. Sometimes some perspective helps.

Houli wasn't involved or on on Cripps for his first goal, in fact, Houli made the space and was alone and the target of a poor Dusty kick when we were in possession and the turnover had us out of position. Cripps 2 other goals were from ball ups in their forward line and were magnificent snaps. First of those Houli was drawn in to tackle Darling and Cripps was recipient of handball. Maybe could have held back. Easy to say in hindsight. 2nd, Yeo quick kick from the ball up rebounded off a Tiger's leg straight into the arms of Cripps for a snap and goal. Zero Houli could have done about it. Could have just as easily rebounded into his arms.

So how's that for perspective based on the factual situation? Houli was magnificent, even deniers can't disagree surely? All players make mistakes in a game of footy especially if you're getting it 34 times. Playing the devil's advocate though makes no sense on his performance yesterday.

It was perspective on Shorty not perspective on Houli. I haven't rewatched the game but I think Houli made a hash of one contest taking out Edwards in a contest and leaving Cripps alone to score. However I have watched some highlights and Yeo who was easily West Coasts best ( 15 clearances) basically hand fed Cripps two goals with great hands.

Sorry I read that you said Cripps (or someone) kicked 3 on Houli. I've watched the replay and reviewed Cripp's goals. Cripps was fed first goal by a handball from Kennedy. Houli wasn't on him. 2nd was a stoppage and fed handball by Darling. Third was a stoppage and Yeo hurried kick that ricocheted of a Tiger into his arms. None fed by a Yeo handball and none as a result of Houli taking out Edwards. Yeo did have a good game. He's a gun.

Chol hasn't touched it in three weeks and he was not that competitive in the ruck. If Nank is fit he comes in for Chol. especially if Grimes misses as Nank can play a loose tall down back role. If not Balta comes in.

Cotchin for Ross probably although I really like Ross.

I think Caddy is really starting to play that wing role well.

Short still a bit wobbly but better than recent weeks. Rioli working hard but short on confidence. Needs to move out of the Fevola household and refocus.

Fingers crossed on Grimes.
Rioli seems to be lacking confidence. Fumbling a lot and can't seem to pick up the pill off the ground. Was wet I know, but he just could not pick it up.

Also his kicking lets him down, especially kicking for goal. Then again his tackling is superb.

All WC goals were the fault of my whipping boys, regardless of what actually happened.

Therein lies the problem. Only had 1 tackle and his pressure acts were down (perspecitve Castagna had 8 and 40). Those were conditions that encourage higher defensive efforts.

For some reason I thought he had more tackles than that Love Tiger

Bring in Towner just so he can fold that Robinson campaigner in half.

Grimes will likely get up if not in moon boot or on crutches today.

Cotch will replace Ross thats likely gonna be it for mine.

We just knocked off our biggest threat and the reigning premiers.

Firstly, he isn't hitting those targets enough, if we was I'd be on board with the thinking. Second, first opportunity? are you serious? This is the 10th opportunity to drop Short!
