Prospective ruckman ?

We'll target Gawn.

Because Helen Keller picks our "big fish".
Good call Gaz!! :rofl
BOG last weekend against the Cats. Something like 8 towering contested marks.

We don't need another ruckman. Griff and Vickery should be 1 and 2 ruck. Griff is useless as a goal kicking forward, but has a lot of strengths around the ground. The rucking itself doesn't matter anymore, unless you can pinch a Sandilands or Nic nat. Everyone else just halves the contest. Vickery can kick goals when forward, but is a creative ruckman who backs up at ground level. That's what you work with.

Riewoldt CHF, McBean FF, McDonough Forward pocket, surrounded by Deledio, Martin, Morris - if necessary. With Griff and Vickery dedicated rucks, but able to swing forward/back as required, McBean able to pinch hit in the ruck. Astbury/Elton possible tall options in defence who can also swing forward.

That is a very flexible tall brigade, full of mobility. An extremely creative and clever forward line, bolstered by the power and experience of Deledio, Martin, Riewoldt. Glimpses Griff can float to CHF and kick 60 metre bombs at goal. Vickery can lurk forward when not rucking.

There will be games when Vickery/Griff get beaten, but it will be rare that neither can get on top, and that is also going to happen with any ruck combo. The important thing is that, if they are beaten, we're not carrying them. Which is kind of what's happening with Ivan at the moment.

We were keen on Lycett in his draft year, and he's not going to get a run ahead of Nic Nat. How's he going?

Didn't he sign a contract extension recently or last year, or am I thinking about another WC player?

We've also got McKenzie doing his apprenticeship in the VFL. He could be another tall forward/ruck option in the future.

Griff and McKenzie aren't going to be the answer. Soldo, if he is, is years away. We definitely need another true ruckman for 2016.

Keegan brooksby would be a ideal rookie pick last year, but Gold Coast too him

Zac Clarke. Out of contract I believe and dropped by gold coast this week.

Clarke's the one to go for IMO. Firstly, the talk is he wants to come home to Melbourne, secondly out-of-contract, thirdly no chance as 1st ruck at Freo. Have to grab him now, before Sandilands gets to his retirement year. Kreuzer has foot and leg injury problems and doubt Blues would let go for anything reasonable anyway. Whereas Freo will want early draft picks to replenish their aging list or we could have some trade-bait - a WA born player to head home possibly?
Maric is an absolute warrior and luv him, but struggling in the mobility/agility stakes now, and nearly always outsized at a mere 200cm. Vicks and Griff recruited as KP forwards, can do ruck back-up, but having a true ruckman who knocks it out to our mids is crucial. Just review what Sandi & Nicnat did to us in recent matches (ok we beat Freo but they kicked poorly too). Clarke listed as 203cm and 25 yr old. Perfect, just reaching his prime. He is very athletic too, can take a great grab, can kick long and straight. You have to have athletic, mobile ruckman who can compete in centre but preferably able to mark aroung fround and up forward too.
