I'm sick of all this negative crap, I shouldn't read the papers I spose.

I get the sulks after we lose a game but am over it by mid-week.

I'm looking forward to Sunday now. Bring on the Dogs.

Two real positives from last week are the return to top form by Gaspar, and Mark Coughlan starting where he left off last season.

A few others extended their pre-season to include Friday nights game, but hopefully they got a good rev and will give a better account this week.

C'mon Tiges, we all need a win to lift our spirits......please :)

Not many replies to this one Rosy. At least Chaffey will be back.

Absolutely agree with you (yet again) Rosy.

This is exactly what Greg MILLER was saying in his article in the paper.

I will Post on the appropriate thread, and it may add fuel to the fire, but he is correct in most of what he says.

Sad but true.....

You've done well Diggles. ;D
I didn't think you'd even read a thread with the title 'Positives'.
You're right about not many replies. I wouldn't expect many.
These boards are a hive of activity after a loss, and quiet after a win.
Well I just personally wanted to say something good about the club, there are enough negative threads this week.
This site has well over 100 individual people access it in a day.
How nice it would be when I get home tonight to see everyone of them had posted one good comment about the Tiges. ;)

I am in the minority I know but I actually took a few positives out of last Friday.

Clearly our grunt out of the centre was alot better - Cogs and Johnson seem to compliment each other really well.

In the first half I thought our tackling was very good - even laid a few gang tackles haven't seen that since 2001. As one of his harshest critics I was pleased to see *smile* play the way we know he can.

Thought Campbell showed what a good leader he is.

Ray Hall also impressed - his mobility around the ground is going to be vital with Otto out. He also showed that he is a viable target in the forward line. Now if all the other players can just remember that they don't have to kick to Richo eveytime .... and honour Rayzor's leads ;)

Bring on the Doggies and Jay Schulz - there is something about that kid I reckon

POSITIVES!!!!!! Cmon surely ur not serious!!! Positive is bowden, king, houlihan and rogers all going down with knee injuries!!! Now thats positive

::)

Frawelyudud, I wouldn't put bowden in that category, but a season ending injury to rogers would be a blessing in disguise.

ANOTHER POSITIVE - We only win 3 or 4 games this year, end up last and get the priority pick aswell.
Get rid of frawely, his coaching staff, Beck and co. a handfull of dud players at year end. We recruit Wallace, decent recruiting staff, the 2 best youngsters in the country and look forward to 2004 knowing that we have someone coaching us with an idea. ;) ;) ;).

Can't think of anything better.

Would much prefer this than scramble to finish 8th (at best) and lose in the first week of the finals.

You can bag the players as much as you like, but wanting them to have knee recos is not one of them, even though they are *smile* hacks.

Rosy, I think your thread has just been hijacked!

I'm with Rosy on this one - a bit of positivity on this board wouldn't go astray. There's 21 more games to go, players to come back like Krak, Holland, Chaffey, Dragga and Pettifer. New ones to see, like Shulz, McGrath, Nicholls, Fleming, Sipthorp. The ongoing development of Rodan, Coghlan and Zantuck. Not to mention the sound of the Tiger army putting opposition supporters to shame with the sheer volume and ferocity of their, um, encouragement.

Anyone wishing for wooden spoons, sacked coaches, knee reco's or any other such tripe might want to start their own thread so that it's contained. !!!!

the problem with that is the fact that we wont see any of those new faces probably until its too late thanks to the dud!!! The development of coughlan, rodan and co will be stalled thanks to frawleys great coaching abilities!!!!! Lets go and recruit ready made afl players with experience so we can top up our reserves side!!! Yeah i can see the positives now!!!!NOT!!! Get fair dinkum this club is going nowhere with that SO-CALLED coach of ours and his buddies!! Like Harry said id rather endure the pain of winning only 4 games this year and getting the two best young talents next year with Wallace as coach and some decent staff!!!!

If that's what you want go and barrack for St Kilda.

What a joke. Terry Wallace hasn't had much more success than our club, and I suspect he's contributed along with Smorgan, to the demise of the Dogs actually.
He proved himself to be dishonest.
Who'd want to buy memberships for a team that encouraged scratching and biting, and whinging in the press, lying over the Knighter issue etc.
I know I'd take no pride in supporting a team like that.

Yeah Hungry, hi-jacked again, ha.

I wonder why some people barrack for Richmond when they can't think of one good word to say about them.

Injuries shouldn't be wished on anyone that is just plain poor form!

For me the positives out of that last game were as someone else mentioned the tackling and application in the first half.
Cogs Campbo and Gas also thought Newman did a few good things.
It's only early in the season as we all know that's a positive....

Another positive for me is that a guy gave me a bundle of those big cardboard Richmond posters they were giving out. Must be about 20 of them.
Don't know what to do with them though, ha.
Might have to do the Daryl Kerrigan and send them straight to the pool room. ;D

Speaking of positive, I was amazed on the crowded train after the game to hear a heap of people singing the Tigers theme song at the top of their voices.
I think they must have been drinking something stronger than the coffee I had.

Not necessarily FYD. The development of players has been a problem at our Club for far longer than Danny has been here. It's been 10+ years since we've actually developed players, 15+ years if the truth be known.

To solely blame Danny (who has been here 3+ years) for the position the Club finds itself in, is unreasonable. Yes he has something to answer for, but you can't solely blame him for all our sins.

Positives Rosy. I was impressed with Ray Hall's game, I have to say and I thought Chris Newman and Andrew Kellaway played pretty good games. Was good to see Gaspar do his usual job on Tarrant.

Loved Mark Coughlan's run down the wing in the second quarter. Deserved a goal, for the effort on Mark and Richo's part.

And Mark's hip and shoulder on Williams. Had me out of my seat anyway.

Seeing Kane Johnson in a Richmond jumper. The man was born to wear a Richmond jumper.

Richo working his butt off, even though things weren't all going his way.

David Rodan assigned a task and sticking to it.

Being able to turn the volume down on Eddie's commentary, watching the replay over the weekend. ;D

i didnt say he is to blame for everything thats gone wrong at richmond but lets face it in the time hes beem there he has done absolutely nothing!!! The man has one game plan which worked in 2001 and then everyone found us out and thats why we cant win games now!!!! Dannys tactics are PLAN A!!!! PLAN A fails!!! What PLAN B??????? DUHHHH!!!! The fact he also plays players out of position is a major factor of our demise!!!!! The guys a dud and so are half the players we have!!!! Same bunch of losers for the last 5 years and thats why we are still so inconsistent!!! Must start fresh not hang onto blokes who we think might make it and never do!!!

In the tumult of reaction after the Friday night disaster, *smile*'s good form has gone relatively unnoticed and was one of the few bright spots on a dreary night. He looks like he's headed for a 2001-like season.

If this were to happen, then Richmond's defence would be vastly improved and a tough nut to crack throughout 2003.

Now if only we were able to find some goalkickers....
