Palestine and Israel

Fortunately (using Sintigers lexicon) it will be against the State not against the Israeli people. Or the Jews.
What will it look like? I’m not sure but I hope no Arab Israeli or Israeli Arab pays the price. Jews only.
Just stop it Willo.

You are reinforcing your lack of understanding by your words and it is very tiresome.

Stop what. I used your statement re state of Israel. Are you saying I’ve got it wrong now?
You are using it in the wrong context which proves you don’t understand it.
My suggestion you stop is because you are embarrassing yourself

Geez Willo, could you parrot the Zionist line any better? Nice work with all the cutting and pasting.

So, apparently Hamas, who clearly got a lot further than they ever thought they would get on October 7, are a threat to the existence of the State of Israel? Give me a break, they had no idea what to do after they got past the border posts as they never thought they would get that far. There is no military in the Middle East who are a threat to the existence of Israel, none. Iran might do some sabre rattling and get their proxies to do some damage but it won't threaten the State of Israel. After all, Israel has the bomb so Iran is under a real existential threat if it goes too far.

But, along with de-humanising Palestinians, it does make for good propaganda to excuse the levelling of Gaza, the killing of thousands (after all they are sub-human according to Israeli ministers), more killing in the West Bank and total avoidance of any long term solution which would actually give Palestinians any rights.

The Israelis would love for the Palestinians to leave (and go where, Palestine is their home?) it is exactly what they are trying to achieve in levelling Gaza.

The aftermath of this latest chapter in the ongoing saga, unless it actually starts to address the underlying problem of Palestinians living in a ghetto of Israel's making and having no right to self-determination, will be that it will flare up again in a few years.

EU sanctions Hamas wings over sexual violence on Oct. 7

EU countries on Friday put the military and special forces wings of Hamas and the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad on the bloc's human rights sanctions list for their responsibility for widespread sexual and gender-based violence in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

The EU countries said the Qassam and Al-Quds Brigades and the Nukhba Force were now subject to an asset freeze and a travel ban to the EU. The provision of funds to them, directly or indirectly, is now also prohibited. Hamas and Islamic Jihad were already designated as terrorist organisations by the EU.

I try .
Thanks

Tell that to the 12000 men, women and children who were they slaughtered.
They must have been stiff that Hamas got that far
There is no military in the Middle East who are a threat to the existence of Israel, none. Iran might do some sabre rattling and get their proxies to do some damage but it won't threaten the State of Israel.
So you’re the military expert of the Middle East now?
How many soldiers do Hezbollah have under arms?
How many high tech rockets supplied by Iran have at their fingertips?

Going by your statement you have zero idea of the capability of Iran, or Hezbollah have. Zero.
After all, Israel has the bomb so Iran is under a real existential threat if it goes too far.
Well, in your opinion, that gives us all some peace of mind for the whole region doesn’t it.
But, along with de-humanising Palestinians, it does make for good propaganda to excuse the levelling of Gaza, the killing of thousands (after all they are sub-human according to Israeli ministers), more killing in the West Bank and total avoidance of any long term solution which would actually give Palestinians any rights.
Whats the point of writing this?
The Israelis would love for the Palestinians to leave (and go where, Palestine is their home?) it is exactly what they are trying to achieve in levelling Gaza.
No doubt, it would save a lot of lives. 5 generations have never lived in Palestine if you believe what they say
I hope they flood all the tunnels as well. Nowhere for the murders to hide.

The aftermath of this latest chapter in the ongoing saga, unless it actually starts to address the underlying problem of Palestinians living in a ghetto of Israel's making and having no right to self-determination, will be that it will flare up again in a few years.
Just imagine if they had have accepted the borders in 1947/48. How much more land they would have had to live on.
Until they started bombing and murdering again.
But I thought you’d already written this narrative at least 30 times.
Do you have anything new to add? Or just the same thing each time?

Lebanon's Hezbollah: What weapons does it have?

By Reuters
October 31, 20234:04 AM GMT+10:30Updated 5 months ago
Oct 30 (Reuters) - Israeli forces and Lebanon's Hezbollah have engaged in increasingly heavy exchanges of cross-border fire since early October, in the biggest escalation on the frontier since the Iran-backed group and Israel fought a war in 2006.
Hezbollah, one of the most heavily-armed, non-state groups in the world, is the most formidable of Iran's allies in its "Axis of Resistance", which includes Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, Iraqi militias and others.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has said the group has 100,000 fighters.
Here is an overview of some of Hezbollah's most significant weapons, based on Hezbollah statements, security sources, weapons experts and academic reports.

THE OVERALL ARSENAL AND HOW IT HAS GROWN

Hezbollah's military strength is underpinned by a vast arsenal of rockets. Experts believe the Shi'ite Islamist group may possess more than 100,000 rockets today. Hezbollah says it has rockets that can hit all areas of Israel.

Many of the rockets are unguided, but it also has precision missiles, drones and anti-tank, anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles.
Hezbollah's main supporter and weapons supplier is Iran. Experts say the Islamic Republic sends arms to the group by land via Iraq and Syria, both Middle East countries where Iran has close ties and influence. Many of the group's weapons are Iranian, Russian or Chinese models.

LAND-ATTACK ROCKETS AND MISSILES

Unguided rockets comprised the bulk of Hezbollah's missile arsenal in the last war with Israel in 2006, when the group fired about 4,000 of them into Israel - mostly Russian-made Katyusha-style missiles with a range of up to 30 km (19 miles).
Hezbollah has Iranian models, such as Raad (Arabic for Thunder), Fajr (Dawn) and Zilzal (Earthquake) rockets, which have a more powerful payload and longer range than Katyushas.

Nasrallah has said the biggest change in the group's arsenal since 2006 is the expansion of its precision guidance systems. Last year, he said Hezbollah had the ability within Lebanon to retrofit thousands of rockets with guidance systems to make them precision missiles.
This puts more Israeli territory in Hezbollah's range, and experts say it could enable the group to strike more specific targets such as critical infrastructure and military sites.

Hinting at the damage it could now do, Nasrallah in 2016 made a veiled threat that Hezbollah could hit ammonia storage tanks in the northern Israeli port city of Haifa, saying the result would be "like a nuclear bomb".

ANTI-TANK MISSILES

Hezbollah used guided anti-tank missiles extensively in the 2006 war. It has deployed guided rockets again in the latest round of fighting, hitting Israeli positions at the border.
Israel has said during that the latest flare-up that it has responded to anti-tank missiles.
Hezbollah has posted videos of what it says are direct hits on Israeli tanks and other military vehicles since Oct. 7. Videos also show guided strikes on military installations on the Israeli side of the country's northern border with Lebanon.

ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILES

Hezbollah said on Oct. 29 it had shot down an Israeli drone over south Lebanon with a surface-to-air missile, the first time it has announced such an incident.
There was no comment from Israel about that claim, but a day earlier the Israeli military said it had thwarted a surface-to-air missile fired towards an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and that the military had responded by striking where the missile was fired from. It did not give a location.
Experts have previously said Hezbollah has shoulder-held anti-air missiles in its arsenal.

ANTI-SHIP MISSILES

Hezbollah first proved it had anti-ship missiles in 2006, when it hit an Israeli warship 16 km (10 miles) off the coast, killing four Israeli personnel and damaging the vessel.
Hezbollah has since broadcast videos that it says show more of the same weapons that were used in 2006. It has said future targets could include Israel's offshore gas infrastructure.

DRONES

Hezbollah's drones, including what it says are the locally-assembled Ayoub and Mersad models, are mostly used for reconnaissance, although they can carry a small ordnance payload.
Experts say the drones, which can be produced cheaply and in large quantities, could be aimed at draining Israel's Iron Dome air defence system.
Israel accused Iran in September of building an airstrip in south Lebanon that could be used to launch attacks. A non-Israeli source with knowledge of the site said it could accommodate large, potentially weaponised drones, based on an Iranian design.

I‘m sure this mob could do some damage and even maybe kill a couple of innocent people if they started to unleash their arsenal on Israel.
This was from 6 months or so ago. Not doubt Iran has beefed up Hezbollah arsenal with a few more sky rockets and Catherine wheels and some crackers.
After all the Hezzies only get up to 15 $billion to keep their crackers, spudguns and motocross bikes and tracks going. Just for *smile* and giggles.

(No doubt, Reuters have embellished the capacity of Hezbollah and it’s just a pro Israeli beat up, David)

Iran aren't even close to having the bomb:

https://johnmenadue.com/the-fantasy-of-an-iranian-bomb/

Everyone knows this. Having the bomb is a game changer, everyone knows this too.

What is the point mentioning the de-humanisation of Palestinians? Can you not see how that allows Israel to somehow justify levelling Gaza and killing so many? How they can justify dropping 2,000lb bombs which level whole buildings and how the deaths in Gaza are 44% children? It is part of the propaganda effort by Israel to justify the wholesale destruction of Gaza, everyone knows this.

Who are you talking to?

Who gives a *smile* whether Iran have the bomb or not?
They and their chief proxy Hezbollah have enough in their arsenals not to need “the bomb”.
They have enough to overwhelm the Iron Dome and the Patriot systems.
I highly doubt Israel has 100,000 Tarneit interceptors or enough for the Patriot system. At about 90% effective, That let’s about 10,000 missiles through.
That’s just from Hezbollah. Then add in the armed drones. Then the long range artillery.
Plus whatever Iran let’s fly or the Houthis.
Thats even before one boot crosses over the border

What would the carnage of innocent men, women and children be then? Not that it would worry some people. They’re only Jews..

This is going to be like walking a tightrope with tacks in it.
I’ve got the feeling it’s gonna get real bad and more innocents will pay the price.

I‘d be saying for every rocket or bomb that lands in Israel the perpetrators would be responsible for losing a piece of the Al Aqsa Mosque. The more they send, the more it’s reduced. If they keep going its total destruction is assured.

As well as Tehran and Quds headquarters and every high ranking mullah and general around.
Poof! All martyred and they can sip a latte with Muhammad and surround themselves with 40 virgins in paradise. I hope the virgins all have beards and moustaches.

If it’s all out and total war, things will get very deep very quickly.
Don’t be surprised if the Qaaba and each of the other sites in Mecca, Medina, would be vaporised. No more bowing to Mecca. It would be gone.

Maybe read through some of these instead of just the article you posted David.

Not that it matters. As I said Israel’s enemies possess more than enough in their arsenals of non nuclear weapons to cause a huge death toll.
Even with a “dirty bomb”.
Imagine Iran sending a nuclear bomb via a missile and landing in the WB or Gaza or Cairo. *smile*, got the coordinates wrong just a itsy bit.

I believe in another Israel – one not defined by Benjamin Netanyahu and his cronies

The Israel that I meet every day is made up of people who want to forge a path towards peace and security for all

• Naama Lazimi is a member of the Knesset for Israel’s Labor party

I am writing this not only as a member of the opposition in the Israeli parliament, but first and foremost as a mother and a young woman in Israel living under Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. His long spell in office has left my generation disillusioned and robbed of dreams for a better future. We refuse to surrender and are fighting to preserve Israel’s identity as a liberal democracy that embraces coexistence.

The state of Israel is in the midst of a difficult war, which started after the horrifying massacre on 7 October. This war has persisted for six long, hard months, exacting a heavy toll of human lives. The only way to win this war is to reach diplomatic solutions that will bring peace to the Middle East. To that end, Israel, and Israeli citizens, need the support of the US and the entire international community.

Netanyahu’s government, with its extremist allies, lacks a clear strategy for ending this war, which is resulting in escalating violence, and alienation from the global community. It is crucial to recognise that this government does not represent the majority of Israelis, as many opinion polls demonstrate.

As a member of the Knesset, Israel’s legislature, it is very important for me to meet and spend time with the citizens whom I represent. The Israel I meet is completely different from Netanyahu’s government. Since the beginning of the war, I’ve met Arab-Jewish civil society organisations that exemplify this spirit, providing assistance across diverse communities.

This is the real Israel.

The noisy minority advocating for the destruction of Gaza is simply that – a minority. Netanyahu’s partners in the extreme rightwing government want a perpetual war and to see Israel conquer the Gaza Strip and settle there. But the broader Israeli populace desires something different. They seek the opportunity to rebuild their communities destroyed by Hamas attacks, yearning for the return of their 133 loved ones who were abducted.

Moreover, they don’t want to witness further bloodshed in Gaza; instead they want to see the elimination of the murderous terrorism that declared war on Israel and slaughtered us mercilessly on that terrible day. They want to see their sons return from the battlefield. They want a quiet home in which to raise happy children. Over the past few weeks, there has been a surge in protests demanding the return of the hostages and the replacement of the government. Thousands of Israeli citizens have taken to the streets, advocating for immediate elections, a deal for the hostages, and a more accountable leadership.

We must not allow Netanyahu – who is accused of criminal activity including fraud, bribery and breach of trust (he denies the allegations), who made dangerous alliances with extremists to form his government, and has even attempted to turn Israel into a de facto dictatorship through his government’s controversial attempt to pass “judicial reform” – to dictate our relations and divide us. We need to make a clear distinction between this extremist government and the people. When US vice-president Kamala Harris was asked if Israel is at risk of losing American support in the war, she replied that it is important to distinguish between the Israeli government and its citizens, and she is absolutely right. The Israeli people are entitled to security – as are the Palestinians. Israeli citizens are the ones thwarting Netanyahu’s authoritarianism, we are the ones holding him back in this moment.

There is no doubt the ruthless leaders of Hamas are willing to starve the residents of Gaza to death for the sake of the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people. However, it is undeniable that this war, though initiated in response to a tragic massacre, has dragged on without clear political or diplomatic progress. The Israeli government’s persistence in sending soldiers into this conflict, despite the absence of diplomatic objectives, appears driven by a desire to stave off political instability and impending elections – and the risk of electoral defeat. With Netanyahu’s bloc facing historically low approval ratings, they anticipate that the upcoming elections will mark the end of his era in Israeli politics. Those advocating for perpetual conflict seem to prioritise power over life.

In the end, the extremists can’t be the ones designing the future of the Middle East. On both sides there are good people who yearn for a different reality – one defined by prosperity and security, not strife.

My family migrated to Israel from Morocco, following the dream of living in a nation that values life above all else. Throughout 2,000 years of exile, we dreamed of this country, which was established after the Holocaust, the most terrible genocide in history. We dreamed of a country in which life is more precious than land. Under Netanyahu and his cronies, this beautiful country is changing its very character. When I tuck my young children into bed at night, I think about the country I am fighting for, for them, about the country they deserve – one of peace, security and prosperity. And with strong American support, I know that we will succeed. Netanyahu will fall and the extremists will fall.

To the citizens of the US and the entire world, especially those of Jewish descent, I have one request: do not abandon us. Stand with us as we strive for a better tomorrow, for Israelis and Palestinians alike. A liberal-democratic government is not a distant dream but the will of the majority. Together, we can forge a path towards peace and security, fulfilling the aspirations of all who call this region home.

Victoria police forced to pull regional resources as pro-Palestine protesters refuse to provide location info ahead of Monday's rally

Amy Roulston
April 13, 2024 2:20pm

A global pro-Palestine rally has been planned for Monday, but in a bid to cause maximum disruption, the activists have refused to disclose protest locations to Victoria Police – resulting in a massive strain on resources.

A worldwide pro-Palestine demonstration is scheduled for Monday, yet activists, aiming for heightened disruption, have opted not to disclose protest sites to Victoria Police, leading to a significant strain on resources.

The activist group, A15 Action, has called for protests on April 15 in solidarity with Palestine.

The group claim they will “identify and blockade major choke points” in the economy by “focusing on points of production and circulation”.
Organisers have encouraged each city to “keep each other safe" by not talking to or co-ordinating with the police.

It looks like Monday is going to be an eventful day. I hope no-one is inconvenienced trying to get to or from work, or their business or friends and family are caught up in this.
I‘m sure it will be nothing but peaceful. But don’t hold your breath

Next we’ll have a March for Israel.
And on it goes, no violence please.

While the sentiment of the Labour member of the Knesset may reflect a lot of peoples' opinions in Israel, the fact is that the Netanyahu coalition, RWNJs and all, command a majority in the knesset so someone is voting for them. It isn't like Netanyahu has won just 1 election. They don't want a mad right government with no interest in a settlement of the Israel/Palestine issue they need to stop electing governments like this one. Trouble is the religious right has gained a lot of power in Israel over the last couple of decades. I reckon Netanyahu would lose an election held now, and even before October 7 because of the corruption. But it remains a question as to who would then win the election - the religious right get a lot of votes, would they take the votes of Likud or would they go somewhere else?

But back on the dehumanising of Palestinians, the propaganda which portrays Palestinians as sub-human leads to this sort of thing:

Euro-Med Monitor documented the Israeli army’s killing of a Palestinian man who was deliberately run over in Gaza City’s Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood on 29 February after he was arrested. The man was subjected to harsh interrogation by members of the Israeli army, who bound his hands with plastic zip-tie handcuffs before running him over with a military vehicle from the bottom to the top of his body.

The incident occurred on the main Salah al-Din Street in the Zaytoun neighbourhood, according to eyewitnesses who spoke to the Euro-Med Monitor team. Israeli soldiers restrained the victim’s hands before they crushed him, and tramped on his body from the legs up, confirming that he was alive during the incident. To guarantee thorough and complete crushing, the victim was placed on asphalt rather than in an adjacent sandy area.

The victim’s mutilated body and the surrounding area bear obvious signs that a military bulldozer or tank was present. It appears that the victim was purposefully stripped of his clothes, as he was seen wearing only his underpants at the time of his death.

The ramming operation occurred before the Israeli army withdrew to the outskirts of the Zaytoun neighbourhood two days ago, as evidenced by the condition of the entrails and other body parts, which had not yet decomposed when the case was documented.

Another documented incident took place on 23 January, when an Israeli tank ran over members of the Ghannam family while they were sleeping in a shelter caravan in the Taiba Towers area of Khan Younis. As a result, a man and his eldest daughter were killed, and his remaining three children and wife were injured. Amina, his 13-year-old daughter, confirmed that her father and older sister were killed when an Israeli tank unexpectedly and repeatedly ran over the caravan, where the family had been sleeping. While her mother and two other siblings survived the attack, Amina experienced extreme pressure in her eyes, nearly losing her sight.

Euro-Med Monitor also documented Israeli tanks and bulldozers running over and crushing displaced people inside their tents in Beit Lahia’s Kamal Adwan Hospital courtyard on 16 December 2023. Several people were killed during the incident, including individuals who were initially injured and did not ultimately survive. The corpses of those who had been previously buried in the courtyard were also crushed in the 16 December incident, stated the rights group.

More recently, a Palestinian family survived a 20 February running attack after Israeli tracks ran over their tent on the shore of the Khan Yunis Sea. A female civilian said that she was shocked by the tank suddenly running over her tent.

Read what Hamas murderers did on October7 for a comparison.
But that’s all old news

Aah, the US and their consistency dealing with those who don't follow the "rules based" order:

Meanwhile Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah are all upstanding citizens of the world.

Always following the Geneva Convention. The rules of war, respecting civilians, not committing atrocities, not using sexualised violence.etc etc. they’re just a bit misunderstood.

It might be time for you to look from over your side of the fence David.
