2 things.

1) I disagree, his elbow is extended out for the hit so I don't buy that this was accidental.

2) you are supposed to get at least cited, if not suspended, for careless contact to the head, especially when it knocks someone out.

I'm still not buying that this is an accident:

Looks bloody intentional to me, what is that elbow doing extended out? Not 3 players, 2, and Grimes is behind him.

Dog act, covered up by the AFL who play favourites.

If Lynch, or Toby Greene, or lots of others (not Fyfe he does a drive by elbow and nothing to see here) did this they would be out for 4 weeks.

DS
When you watch the vision from Vlastuin's perspective it's clear that Floggerfield started to drop his arm to brace and then decided to go the elbow. You don't brace by flinging your elbow out. Bloke should have got at least 4 weeks. Absolutely disgraceful from Christian.

This isn't going to help - but the fact that a Dangerfield topic is trending top on a Tiger forum Monday after the GF.... who gives a flying... posting something else after to move him down (preferably off) the list.

Trying to remember if one of them was a kick from the back half when he was partly scragged
Kick went very high and not far and basically was of no value.

Pity he doesn’t get stats for strutting

Update:

That kick is with 2:40 to go and was so innocuous it went to Baker and Feathers who raffled it and got it to Jack for the ultimate sealing goal
And that was one of only 3 or 4 for the entire 2nd half

Apart from that in the last 7-8 mins when the game was still on from their point of view - his contributions were only
- walking back In the middle claiming the free kick that was actually paid to us (so much so that the TV even assumed it was his)
- Claimed a couple more free kicks in play that umpires rightly ignored
- was burnt off by Dusty in the last minute

Such an easy bloke to dislike

While I'm a little bit in he accident camp (he probably could have been at least cited and have it looked at a bit more, it was careless and high), this image speaks volumes about the kind of player he is. He's just knocked someone out, one of his clubs greatest players has just popped a shoulder, and he's checking to see if he bruised his elbow. Self absorbed much?

This perfectly sums up his action.

For those who are on Twitter - Grant Thomas who calls a spade a spade " Utterly guilty. Knew exactly what he was doing. Changed direction of elbow."

There was just enough doubt about his intention for the AFL to let him off. Would've eased my suspicions somewhat if there was footage of him checking on Vlastuin's condition. After the match would've done.

Funny thing, sportsmanship. As the great Gary Ablett walked off the field for the final time, 22 Premiership players stood to honour the Little Master, every Premiership medallion tucked into their jumpers so they could not be seen, keen to leave him one final flake of glory. It was the least they could do to honour him.

His team mate Patrick Dangerfield looked like he had been sucking on a thousand lemons, all at once.

Not on twitter, so perhaps you could ask Thomas how his "worst premiership side ever" comment he made in 2017 is aging.

My take. He has his arm outstretched for the ball. All fine up to there. Arm then started to drop. He saw Vlastuin coming, arm again raised with elbow out. At best, its reckless. I will give him the benefit of the doubt but reckless, high impact to the head is still a suspension. That it was let go with no case to answer is disgraceful

Could you imagine Jake Kings reaction if he was out there?

Could have braced himself not bring your elbow back ( and load it ).
Dwaynes been good of late but today he went back to his ‘usual self Cat protector of Dangerfield.
Said he was happy with the outcome.
Wrong. Deserved a suspension. Not a fine a SUSPENSION.

Accident or not (and it looks to me like he raised elbow) is not the head protected and given the damage inflicted shouldn't there automatically be a penalty....weeks or fine?

Yeah that’s what I reckon too. He had started to drop his arm after he punched the ball away. They’re saying he was protecting himself. If he continued to drop his arm, he would’ve/could’ve made contact with Vlas’s chest - still pushing away but in that split second he chose the head. I cannot believe that he got nothing, nada, nix for an incident that did cause injury (unlike Long’s the other week. He was suspended because of the possibility of causing injury. I am livid, once again the AFL plays favourites.

What I also noticed especially on 2nd viewing was that our guys tackled Gazza fairly but almost carefully, knowing of the injury, and despite what a few on PRE were calling for - to hammer his shoulder. Who knows if someone even said to go a little easy on him at the main break.

Would have been smart for a couple of reasons - would have perhaps appeared like poor sports to extend the 'nasty thugs' school of media coverage. And very likely to arouse the ire of the umpires.

Whatever, further evidence of the very decent character of this club. They played the game hard but scrupulously fair.

The Tribunal might've cleared him but we have given him a life time worth of hurt.

1 goal in his last 2 finals.
Not a very good forward..

A good test -- would you be outrages if Dusty or Coach got 2 weeks suspension it they did that to Stewart?

I'd cop that... and that is why its such bs that Dangerflop gets away with it

Sorry, Elmer. But disagree. I understand your sentiment but I'm very offended by Danger's action, and the fact it has been whitewashed by the AFL & media.

The Flog should have got 4 weeks. Head sacrosanct? Utter *smile*.
