Mentally is the way to beat them, but also strong physical tackles. We have to shake off our clumsiness to succeed again. I might look back to analyse our game against them early in the season when we had chances.

we woulda beat them with dusty in the form hes in now

Nup. Not yet. Dusty still missing his pings at the big sticks. Just. A couple of grubber kicks.
The Tiger King is close, oh so close

Getting a bit tired of McRae and Hinkley cheering and barracking on the sidelines.
Hinkley carries on like the crazy uncle after he’s had a few too many whiskeys at Christmas. I reckon he embarrasses himself to be honest, but apart from being Ports number one cheerleader I don’t think he’s got much else to do.

Reckon St Kilda and Ross are getting frosty. They are understanding after shafting Ratten that they are the same side.

Most interesting watch for me right now. Not on the ground but off it. What do they do to get better?

It's like deja vu someway. Wossy walks out on the Aints to fix up Freo....again.

So how do you stop Collingwoods 4th quarter blitzkreig?

I see two ways; both extremely difficult

1. Decode then recognise when collingwood are in the energy conservation modes in the first 3 quarters, and do your own corridor mayhem and score.
Im going use a cycling analogy and call this 'The Peleton Break-away technique'
Hope you get a defensible lead.
This technique would be tiring physically and mentally, so you would need to go into a crude slow multi stoppage maul game in the 4th quarter.

2. Knock the stuffing out of them for the first 3 quarters. Ill use a boxing analogy and call this 'reverse rope-a-dope'. Land on them, punch them in the back of the head, drop knees into ribs every single contest until they are too sore and rooted to execute 4th qtr blitzkrieg.
Old fashion, crude, terry wallace technology.

Neither of these are easy. Im clutching at straws.

The best side wins the flag 9/10 and collingwood are 2023's best side by 3 goals (they beat 2nd best, with only 1/3 of their strike force having any impact - elliot - daicos - degoey is their 3 headed monster. Last night port cut off two heads, and lost.

No, only two things will stop collingwood winning the 2023 premiership

1. Injury - to two of; degoey, moore, elliot, daicos, or

2. Momentum - theyve had it for a long time without pause, and it ends
How to stop them? Make them uncomfortable.

Magpies are super happy to chase down big deficits in the last.
And near impossible to outrun and tire for the whole game.
So switch it up. Go defensive for 3/4. Flood hard. Aim to be 2-3 goals down at the last break.
Get us in a position where we can take risks and play freely.
What do collingwood do?
Keep playing their high risk game?
Do they freeze up and hold tight.

Importantly take the momentum in the last quarter.
That means a deliberate strategy on the bench for 3/4.

get them in some "strong physical tackles" and you get towards the mental side of things..

there's a fragility in the Pies, like there is in the Cats.. and the same could be said about their coaches ..

find McRaes weakness, you find the teams ...

Love it. They cant come back from a 3/4 time deficit if they are in front!

How dodgy is this Adam Simpson situation where he apparently owns a couple of Hungry Jacks franchises? On top of them being a club sponsor? I assume the AFL has ticked it off but given the rumours of his contract situation it sure doesn’t pass the pub test..

Agree. Dodgy AFL again.

Lyon is the drunk uncle the next day who can’t remember where he left his pants.

De Koning won’t provide much immediate cap relief. He extended for 2 years at the end of ‘20 so doubt there’s that much tied up in him. He’ll only provide future relief if the $600k plus per year numbers from other clubs are correct. They’ll get decent draft picks for him, but cap wise they have problems right now and I don’t think De Koning helps much in that respect.

Personally, I think he’s a big chance to go regardless. Most likely to those aholes down the highway.
Has just re-signed with the brown paper bags for another 2 years. Blues lock down key tall after months of speculation - https://www.afl.com.au/news/987971

It's funny when you look back at those drafts..... confirms what we already know.... it ain't an exact science!
Another classic sliding doors moment.... we take Vickery the pick before Ziebell.
Until the day Shai no longer pulls on a Richmond jumper.... Tyrone is the gift that keeps giving!

Score the first goal!

Can’t allow them the first.
