I'm not a massive Healy fan but he gets a few points in my book for being one of the few in the media to call out that Lids is underrated.Chimptastic said:I've noticed Gerard Healy not only asked what he thought was a hard-hitting question about 'The Richmond Way' on On the Coach, but he followed it up the next morning when interviewing Maric on radio. Blurted out 'are you still heading north or is the graph heading sss... mumble'. I think he wants specific answers and hates how general and vague the club's message has been. He thinks we're talking *smile* IMO. Doesn't buy us saying "it exists, but we can't tell you".
From what I can gather, the Richmond Way has seemed like an in-house Bible everyone must follow, an agreed set of values to live by that will ultimately lead to success. Not sure why Healy expects a detailed response, but he seems to take the public definition at face value and thinks his questioning is calling us out as imposters. Don't like his attitude (if I'm reading it correctly).
I love listening to Buckley and Clarkson, and even Ross Lyon, talk about footy. Sometimes Malthouse, when he's in a good mood. None of the rest of them, ever.CarnTheTiges said:I find you get better insights from Buckley (especially Buckley, he's extremely candid) and Roos on 360 each Monday night.
spook said:The funniest part of the interview was the aftermath. Dimma refused to divulge 'the Richmond way', only for the club to put an article on the website: 'Dimma Defines the Richmond Way'. :spin

Reading through the thread, I had to go and listen to the interview several times to understand what the fuss was about. Some folks here have taken some artistic licence with the comments. I don't think he saw scoring from the back half as an issue as such (scoring is scoring), he just said it was our preferred game plan not to do that. Doesn't mean if the opposition throws something at you, you don't change it up. Think there's maybe a lot of angst after our poor start to the season (justifiably so) but there's people jumping at shadows all over the place as a result.
It's not all bad, or all good. (That's a black and white approach, and we're yellow and black dammit). There's a whole lot of grey with our season so far, some successes and some abject failures. Few deep breaths folks. We've got a long way to go yet. Save some anger for round 23.

Johno Brown was a "see ball, get ball, kick ball" footballer . A great one don't get me wrong, but there was nothing complicated about him as a player. It's the same way he commentates, as soon as he tries to analyse it all gets lost on Brownie.Matiger said:Does anyone else get the impression that Gerald, King and Dunstall think J Brown is an idiot/don't like him. Only reading body language etc but they seem to dismiss him when he offers an opinion.
Just a gut feel and I wondered if anyone else had noticed anything similar.

It's not only J Brown that does this. I can't think of ONE commentator who doesn't!Filthy Tiger said:I have noticed Brown does contradict himself a bit. It like he often forgets what he's said previously and then just speaks without thinking.

Brownie doesn't come across as the sharpest tool. Could play footy well, no doubt about that. The other panel members seem to make no secret that they feel this too.Matiger said:Does anyone else get the impression that Gerald, King and Dunstall think J Brown is an idiot/don't like him.
