The Olympics are almost a month away!

So many fantastic opportunities for Australia to win Gold in London and it will be a great two weeks of sport.

Anyone heading over there?

I would love to go over and see the track cycling. I hope we can take it up to the Poms.

I love the running as well.

All the other events I would only watch if their is an Aussie to cheer on.

My enthusiasm for it has tampered off over the years but I watch some of it.
Mainly just the Basketball, Athletics and Swimming (hopefully the man Nick "Guns" Darcy goes alright)

I'll watch as much swimming as possible. Will keep an eye on other events but probably lose interest by the second week. Not that into track and field. I get quite patriotic and show heaps more interest if Aussies are involved. I'm quite looking forward to it. Oh and will also watch the Poms soccer game knowing my son will be there.

I love the Olympics. Always have. I know that a lot of people aren't as excited, due to drugs etc, but i don't care about that. I just love to watch people doing great things. I will watch heaps live, will be recording all day at work, just looking for magical moments. I was fortunate to be in Sydney in 2000 and have some great memories from the games. I love to watch the athletics, I can still remember watch Usain Bolt in 08 like it was yesterday. Louganis hitting his head years ago, Shane Kelly's f up on the velodrome, the Chinese sprinter protesting in Beijing, I'm just a sucker for the drama. And I can't go past a good underdog story.

There will be plenty to enjoy. Can't wait

No. For some reason I can't get enthused about the Games these days.

the olympics has definitely lost its lustre/mojo. i'll watch it when i can, but i won't get up at stupid o'clock to watch the big events like i did in years gone by.

I'll get up at stupid o'clock to watch Usain Bolt.

I'll get up at absolutely-staggeringly-ridiculous o'clock to watch Jamaica break the world record in the 4 x 100

And I'll stay awake overnight to watch the Australian teams pursuit pull down the pants of their Britich counterparts.

Couldn't agree more. I have got the second week off work so I can watch the track & field.
It's the things you dont expect to see that make the experience. The you Aussie diver who nailed the last dive in Beijing (Matt something?) I woke the Mrs up at some ridiculous hour to tell her about it. Paid for it in the morning too I might add.

Getting pumped now.

I have no interest whatsoever in the Olympics/Commonwealth games these days.

Anyone been following the men's hockey draw business? The Kookaburras (world #1s) got scheduled 3 early starting games (requiring pre-dawn rising). Second seed Germany didn't get any, and other teams only got 1 at the most. After Charlesworth complained, the aussie draw was reduced to 2 early starts (with ill-grace apparently), still 1 more than any other team.

What the hell was going on there? Way too unsubtle to be an attempt to nobble the aussies surely, but no one could look at the original draw and think it fair.

the poms probably drew us for the early games because the timezone suits?

Ah, think you may have something there Ian. Looking at it again, the kiwis actually got 2 early games as well. In the women's draw the early starts involve either Aus, NZ or a Japan and Korea game.

It's still a bit rough when telecast timings have priority over draw equity.

Reckon the men should harden up and get over it.

I'm really looking forward to the Olympics. I enjoy the basketball, mens and womens. For some reason it always seems like a more pure contest than US basketball.
I'm just a bit disappointed there is no Roy and HG show each night. Does anyone know what time in Melbourne the opening ceremony will be?

I looked at this the other day, I'm pretty sure it'll be 5:00am Melbourne time.

It'll be 6.00am Melbourne time.
