40-0 remember.
Has to deflect the criticism of his choking outfit somehow.

Smith was guilty, that is the sole reason he was suspended. Regardless of how many other players have gotten away with it over the year.... including every single Storm wrestler that has donned the jersey this season ....Smith was guilty.
The video evidence was there for all to see. It was his job in light of damning video evidence that he was not guilty, he couldn't do it, knew he couldn't do it... hence the sooking started BEFORE the judiciary hearing.
meltiger said:Rubbish. Where else do the NRL need to place teams? Adelaide? Pfft. Perth, maybe and regardless of what Gallop said recently, Perth will be one of the next two expansion teams.
But guess where the majority, the vast majority of the Australian population live? The Eastern seaboard. Which the NRL dominate in all bar one city. If they actually had a negotiation process for their rights they would do a hell of alot better. The NRL negotiating with News Ltd is akin to someone answering a question about the last time they had sex, nominating the last time they stroked. Playing with yourself doesn't count.
Exactly, that question hasn't been answered.Tiger74 said:so why was it okay for the others, but not okay for Smith??
Tiger74 said:For TV advertisers, reality is a national comp is Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. For a "national" campaign, those are the three you MUST have, the others are just filler.
Melbourne creates the case for the NRL being considered close to a national comp, and without a team here, its just a game only for advertising in the NSW and QLD market.
What are we arguing here about anyway, you supposedly agree with the national comp.

The thread is titled "NRL", not "Storm love-in"
Some can have viable views, even if they disagree with what Storm fans believe
In answer to you & '74 re: Smith suspended/Others not ... Can you name me any season, in any sport where every single incident on the field has not only been cited consistently, but the suspensions are equal? Of course you can't.
Quite simply, they chose to make an example of Smith, to rid the game of this sh!t after TWO YEARS of warning Melbourne to stop it. I would suspect Smith being rubbed out of the GF will have more of an impact than a 2 match suspension at any other time. Maybe Craig will now employ a tackling coach to come down to training rather than a wrestler ...
At the end of the day though, Smith himself was to blame for attacking Thaiday's head when he could have hit him anywhere else on his body. Even IF you lot were right and it was a 'get Melbourne' consipracy... No one forced Cam to attack the guys head. He put himself in that position, no one else.

Anywa, we're never going to agree ... Next topic? The World Cup is coming up

Fact: Every club in the NRL employs a wrestling coach , the first to do so was the Broncos.
Myth number 2: they are the only team who grapple and are the worst offenders.
Fact: This season they were the 4th worst offenders when it came to penalties given away, and tackles that were looked at by the judicary for grapple tackles, , but the storm were the side that were most talked about, usually by the opposition coaches , surprise surprise, in the week leading up to playing them in an attempt to influence the refs peanlty count, and then the media would splash it all over the back pages. The Grapple is a problem in the game, not just the Storm.

& the All Blacks rarely if ever get penalised for cheating at the breakdown so they must never do it right?

Bellamy, Waldron apologise over comments
October 7, 2008 - 4:19PM
Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy and chief executive Brian Waldron have issued an apology to the NRL judiciary, 11 days after their comments following Cameron Smith's grapple tackle suspension.
Both Bellamy and Waldron said it was never their intention to question the integrity or reputation of judiciary members who banned Storm skipper Smith for Melbourne's final two matches of the season.
Judiciary members Darrell Williams, Royce Ayliffe and Darren Britt last week started defamation proceedings against the Storm duo.
"I repeat at no stage did I intend to question the integrity or reputation of the members of the judiciary," Bellamy said in a club statement on Tuesday.
"I acknowledge that the judiciary members made their decision honestly, based on what they saw as the merits of the case.
"I apologise for any hurt or distress my comments may have caused."
Waldron expressed the same sentiments in the statement.
"The Melbourne Storm is passionate about the game of rugby league," he added.
"We wish to emphasise that it was never the club's intention to hurt or damage our game, or anyone associated with it.
"We regret any such perception, if that has occurred."
The panel members had stated that they were seeking an apology before Sunday's grand final, when Melbourne were beaten 40-0 by Manly.
There is no word yet on whether the judiciary members will proceed with their legal action.
